Vurb started in 2007 amidst the largest economic recession in recent history. This time we’re trying our luck during a pandemic. We should have our heads checked.
Vurb was a garage brand. We had offices all over the country. In our moms’ basements, coffee shops, truck stops, Walt’s garage, amateur dirt bike tracks (with 15 dudes packed in a box van) and just about any other place we could find an internet connection—which wasn’t easy back then.
We lived it. We bled for it. We were broke as hell but, collectively speaking, it was one of the greatest accomplishments of our professional lives.
It grew. Then it grew some more. And eventually it grew
even more. We were young. We made mistakes, let egos get in the way and
eventually, despite all its success, we shut it down. Frozen. Seemingly gone
forever.
Until now…
But this Vurb is different. A decade wiser, with still much to learn, this time it will be different. Our motto? We haven’t gotten that far yet.
Vurb was once almost completely supported by ad revenue. This time it will be supported by aligning with select companies who share our vision and allow us to be our own voice. It will be supported by our followers. How much content we generate, how many events we attend or videos we drop will be up to our fan base through their brand support.
It could be argued that Vurb got too big, too quick. So we’re hitting the reset button. We no longer have full time designers, a staff of developers or a network of dedicated photographers and videographers all over the world. And the likelihood of living alongside 15 dudes in a box van for months at a time is slim, although Wes is probably all about it.
Our staff will be small at first. The original founders
of the company who have the same drive, creative energy and passion for the
sport as we did in 2007, are back and a few members of the original crew that
we hope will still be involved.
A few things are certain. Our website will probably suck
at first, the growth will probably be slow and we more than likely won’t be
shooting the 65cc 6-9 Mod moto at the Chickenlick Raceway Regional this year.
But there are a few other things that are certain. While
daily race reports and posting every PR the industry sends our way won’t be
what we’re all about, we will continue to try and bring a creative look into
the sport that we love.
Here we go… again!
P.S. We also promise to talk Travis Steward into doing a few new National Security shoots for us. Hopefully he finally gets his ass kicked by one of the security guards.
P.S.S. We’ve also contacted Mud Dolphin’s agent but have yet to receive a response. Rumor is he’s in Indonesia somewhere.
