Haiden Deegan Apologies For Post-Race Comments at Denver Supercross

Recently crowned 250SX West Division Champion Haiden Deegan has issued an apology for his comments post-race on Saturday at the Denver Supercross round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross.

After clinching the title with a late race block pass for the lead that sent teammate Cole Davies over the berm, Deegan said the following on the podium:

“I want to congratulate Cole, he is riding really good,” Deegan said. “Two laps to go I wanted the win I was going to do anything for it. I saw an opening and took the chance. This means a lot [on the title]. Coming in people doubted me and thought I was all hype coming into supercross and motocross. They are just mad that I’m him and if you don’t like it you can suck!”

On Monday, Deegan took to his Instagram story to issue a formal apology for his comments, writing:

“I want to apologize for what I said in my recent interview. I take full responsibility–it was wrong. To everyone who supports me: I don’t take your support for granted. I’m learning, growing and doing better moving forward. Thank you for holding me accountable.”

  1. Haiden, Young man, yes, I agree with some that you are a great racer, but you have a great deal to learn yet. I thought what you did to your teammate was uncalled for and unnecessary, bud. He had that race from the get-go and you came in and pulled a shit head move like that. Championships come and go; from my perspective, that race could have been let go. I’m not absolutely sure, but I’ll bet team Yamaha said some things to you off camera and out of earshot from everybody around. There’s a time and a place in races to pull shit like that bud son you very easily let that one go and you damn well know it. Just remember, there’s gonna be a day when a racer shits in your hat.

  2. It’s called racing. Hayden your talent was ruined when you use that cheap move. Catch them and race them. Cole should have won or finished second. You took that away with your cheap, easy move to not race him to the finish line!

  3. C”Mon ppl…this is for the championship…It’s racing…period..I’ve seen Bam Bam over the yrs take ppl out in much worse ways along with Fernandez..n others…If it was so bad then why wasn’t there penalties at the time like taking points away n having champion ship determined the following week..

Degan has had to deal with ppls sarcasm n criticism from the jump…and he would have nvr made the comment he did which I loved it the crowd wasn’t so damn rude when he was trying to speak.aeveryone is over reacting.Worse has been done but they catch slack wtf is that..Hating on a 19 yr old talented kid for just racing is a lil ridiculous…None of these racers are real like adegan…He has the balls to say what he feels and what he’s thinking unlike most ppl in this world.I think he is frustrated for having to prove himself to ppl and he’s had enough..he’s champ …deal with it….

Love you Degan..keep your chin up you did nothing wrong…my fiance been racing motocross all his life..he’s been an expert rider winning both classes he races in as the yrs go by..I’ve seen what happens on the track..a they may not be pros but race just as hard and shit happens on the track I get it…love you look forward to seeing you race and win championships over the yrs to come…yesssss Danger Boy Degan

  4. That pass being for the championship and for $500k; I’d park my own father over the berm for that. And it probably would have been a little more in the Osbourne/Savatgy style too. I started racing in the 90’s when we had men racing and not drama queens. Haiden probably shouldn’t have said what he said on the podium, but hey, he is 19. Its called racing, and rubbing is racing guys. Cole knows

  5. You could have made a super clean pass so i am thinking you and cole were at odds all week and this is called you reap what you sow. As far as the apology goes we know that was AMA , your Social Media peeps and Feld speaking for you via twist of the checks !!! BRRRRAAAPPP !

  6. Haiden,

In the 70’s – 80’s we apologized to No One. If you MOTOCROSS you get it. If ya don’t ya don’t get it. Some people are ABSOLUTE PUNKS on the MOTOCROSS TRACK and off the track so are their fans.

Welcome to our riders meeting. You used the Wrong Adjective. If you had said ‘ you can go to hell or fxx yourself everybody would’a asked ‘what happened ‘ ? Instead’a debating If you suck is appropriate for MOTOCROSS. This is exactly why I asked Jett what the hell are you doing at the Met GALA?

  7. Nobody would have done that to Deegan in his rookie year. Guys like Hampshire who have been on 250s for a while and working their way up would have understood a young kid’s drive to win. Deegan only cared about himself and what he looked like at that moment. All he wants is more titles and money for his childish whims. Forget about everything else. Money, money, money right deegs?

Nobody doubts you, Haiden. People are just sick and tired of the childlike shenanigans you pull like getting arrested, flaunting your money and cars, grow up. Moto isn’t for little children it’s serious but you see it as a great time to get money and be popular. You say youre changing and getting better but the next day it’s going to be something else about how “youre him”. People like Davies are making a name for themselves on their own without a famous dad or youtube channel. Give others room to be in the spotlight. Davies wanted and deserved that win at Denver. When and if you ever move up to the 450s, you will get a taste of your own medicine. Say sorry all you want we know its for your own benefit but what about Cole? Who pulled almost the same exact move on Schock last year in Birmingham and the crash legitamately injured him. Racing, money, titles, whatever. That is your teammate. Thats not what teammates do to each other. You push people off the track and then make them think they were at fault and say “Well, I’ll learn from it next time.” No. You are going to ruin this sport deegs. Calm yourself down. Its not always about you.

  8. Let me start by saying I am not a fan of Degan. That being said there’s no way anyone else wouldn’t have done the same thing to win a championship. If Davies hadn’t left the door WIDE open he wouldn’t have been knocked off the track. Hello will live and LEARN!

  9. There was nothing wrong with Deegs pass on cole, Davies left it wide open and Deeg saw his opportunity, don’t tell me anyone else wouldn’t have done the same. Sorry but there’s no crying in SX. Congrats to Deegs.

  10. Hayden, by accepting your mistakes, I can tell you’ve been raised by a couple of fantastic parents. Good basic values in that family. I can tell you’re a man. And you stood up and accepted your mistakes. It’s what we do as humans.God bless have a great season compliments to your parents,
