The AMA has released their post-race penalty report from round 16 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross and it has fined Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan for his post-race comments on the podium after clinching the 250SX West Division Championship. The AMA also issued a “written warning” to Deegan for “overly aggressive riding” for his pass on teammate Cole Davies late in the race.
After clinching the title with a late race block pass for the lead that sent Davies over the berm, Deegan said the following on the podium:
“I want to congratulate Cole, he is riding really good,” Deegan said. “Two laps to go I wanted the win I was going to do anything for it. I saw an opening and took the chance. This means a lot [on the title]. Coming in people doubted me and thought I was all hype coming into supercross and motocross. They are just mad that I’m him and if you don’t like it you can suck it!”
On Monday, Deegan took to his Instagram story to issue a formal apology for his comments, writing:
“I want to apologize for what I said in my recent interview. I take full responsibility–it was wrong. To everyone who supports me: I don’t take your support for granted. I’m learning, growing and doing better moving forward. Thank you for holding me accountable.”
This is the second time Deegan has been fined this year. Following Seattle Supercross, Deegan and Julien Beaumer were both fined due to their post-race actions.
Deegs did nothing wrong, Cole left it wide open and Deegs seen his opportunity. I like Cole he’s definitely the future of the sport,but sorry man there’s no crying in SX,MX, congrats to Deegs on his win
The AMA is a joke!!! If you are saying he did something WRONG (which he didn’t) you should have penalized him positions in the race not after you already awarded him the championship!!
Aggressive riding understandable especially for the title,look at Tomac he’s did it to Dungy in 2017,and Zach Osborne did it to joey savatgy and took him out knocked his bike out from under him for the title just before the finish line.its racing and Cole even admitted he left the door open and shouldn’t have put himself in that position,Deegan went under him took his line and won the race.ebd of story CONGRATULATIONS HAIDEN DEEGAN,U TOLD UR OLE MAN 4 YEARS AGO YOU WOULD BE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!! Your not a good.rider by hitting people. Your a good rider by passing clean.. Deegan is a great writer but he needs to learn respect. And do that someone needs to put him on the ground hard. Maybe three or four times. But what do you expect at a rich Yuppie kid.

AMA IS LIKE NASCAR! Micromanaging everything you look at the replay deegans back tire was locked up. Cole left that front door wide open for that kind of move. Cole would have done the same thing, yes Deegan’s comment was wrong but he’s just being REAL! He tells you what he really feels! And if you don’t like it? OH WELL
If you’re going to give him a written warning for aggressive riding,you should’ve held off giving him the championship. AMA you have major issues. But we all know where he gets aggressive riding from right. His Daddy, look at he’s aggressive cheap shot riding and driving over the years.
Deegan needs some humble pie in his life! And be more grateful, I can name a few riders who acted like him in the past and in the last couple of years are no longer top 5 riders they are considered a hasbeen! Hmm I wonder why, Karma will get you every time! So Deegan needs to remember when he puts that helmet on who pays to see him, are the same people that can take it all away! He needs to be more grateful and win on his talent to show case and focus on that! Can’t wait to watch the next race!

Like father,like son…Deegan is a little prick, just like his arrogant ol’ man. He rides great, but it’s the sport’s highest level, all these guys ride great, but just like his dad, he races like prick. He grew up w/ social media, so he knows exactly what to say to protect his sponsorship. He doesn’t really mean “I apologize.” He knows what he’s doing, and doesn’t give AF. The dude sold his recent mug shot after getting busted, I’m sure he apologized to the judge and arresting officer, only to give them the middle finger as soon as thier backs were turned. He did the same thing to the AMA leaving Denver, he,s doing it his sponsors too. It’s Eddie Haskell type lip service from the little prick. Unaccountable, and unapologetically kissing corporate ass. I was at Saddleback when Hannah and Howerton went at. Anaheim for Bailey vs Johnson. Rubbins Racin. Bangin Bars is what its about. But when you have to put em on the ground means you cant beat em straight up. Thats being a pussy.
