Gavin Towers is One Bad Dude

Last week as I was writing the Amateur Roundup and looking at results from the Gatorback Southeast Amateur Regional, I noticed Gavin Towers won the first moto of 250 Pro Sport but did not finish the remaining motos for 250 Pro Sport and Open Pro Sport. At the time, I did not know what happened, but it turns out Gavin broke his collarbone, putting him out for the weekend.

Well, Gavin got his collarbone plated back together on Monday, June 5 and was at Budds Creek racing Saturday, June 10. Not only did he show up and race, but he won 250 Pro Sport and finished fifth in Open Pro Sport qualifying for the Ranch in both.

If you do the math, Gavin was racing five days after he had surgery on his collarbone. If you’ve ever had a plate put in your body somewhere, you know the first week is usually a little rough. To ride a dirt bike in any capacity that quickly after surgery is an impressive accomplishment. To race six Pro Sport motos and win is unreal.

Gavin Towers, you sir have my ultimate respect. See you at the Ranch.
