Slawdictions For RedBud II

Who is ready for a RedBud II on a Monday! The iconic track in Michigan will host its second straight race on Labor Day. It will serve as round five of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.

One thing I hate about these blabbering “experts” on ESPN, etc. is that they throw out the ridiculous predictions and then NEVER revisit them. They are NEVER held accountable. Not Slaw. Each week I’ll review my previous week predictions and grade it on a Slaw scale of 1 to 10.

Let’s review my Slawdicitions from RedBud I and then jump into RedBud II.

Prediction

After a complete disaster at Loretta Lynn’s 2, Jett Lawrence bounced back at Ironman to snag his first career top-five overall. Dismissing his double DNF at LL2, the just turned 17-year-old has started his Pro Motocross career with 6-5 finishes. I think he works his way to at least a moto podium at RedBud 1.

SOOOOOO CLOSE. Jett was a damn near lock for a podium in the first moto if not for a late charge from Dylan Ferrandis. He ran third for three laps, so that counts for something.

Slawdiction: 3 out of 10. Yes, three because he was in third for three laps.

Prediction

If you watched Justin Barcia in the second moto at Ironman, that was classic BamBam. He was revving the piss out of the bike, slinging his YZ all of the track, and you could tell he was in the groove. Barcia has had prior success to RedBud, so if he can gel with his bike this weekend, watch out. I think he grabs a moto win.

Son of a… again, soooooo close to nailing this. Barcia was on rails in the second moto, but wasn’t able to close on Zach Osborne who went 1-1.

Slawdiction: 4 out of 10. Again, close, so I get a few points.

Prediction

This is my absolute lead slaw lock of the week: Justin Bogle will grab a holeshot this weekend. Look, Bogle is a start master and nearly had one last weekend at Ironman, before a tree jumped out and hit him. I think one year he had like 45 holeshots, so look for his first one of the season to come this weekend.

I, humble leader of Slaw Nation, would like to offer my apologies for this lead slaw lock of the week.

Slawdiction: -5 out of 10. I hate everything.

Prediction

RJ Hampshire’s title chances took a massive hit last weekend, as he went 5-17 for 12th overall. Now 45 points back of Dylan Ferrandis, it’s a long shot RJ gets back into the hunt. BUT, BUT, BUT…. He’s riding so fing well. That continues at RedBud, as he bounces back and grabs an overall podium.

BOOM BOOM BOOM. Not only did RJ bounce back with a moto podium in the first moto, he took second overall behind Martin. BOOM.

Slawdiction: 12 out of 10.

Onto this week’s predictions.

Star Holeshot

This is an easy one, but also my lead slaw lock of the week (hey, I need a rebound after the RedBud I shit show): A Star Yamaha will holeshot a moto. I don’t know which one, but my bets on Masterpool again. That bike and his size = an absolute rocket ship.

Tomac Bounces Back

As I wrote in Slawservations yesterday I think Tomac’s title chances are slim. BUT, I do think he will win a lot down the stretch. That starts on Monday, as he grabs the overall.

Ferrandis Bounces Back

Again, an easy one, but whatever. It’s my column, yall just living in it. Ferrandis bounces back, and just to make it hard, goes 1-1. Yep, 1-1, doggies.

Harrison Podiums

You want a harder one? Here you go. Mitchell Harrison, Michigan native, grabs a moto podium at his home race!

Sexton Podiums Again

Not only will Sexton grab another moto podium finish, I’m betting he grabs a SECOND straight overall podium. The kid is on rails right now, he grew up in the Midwest, and I just love his style on this track. Lock it!
