Lucas Oil Pro Motocross travels to Thunder Valley in Colorado this weekend for round eight of nine.
One thing I hate about these blabbering “experts” on ESPN, etc. is that they throw out the ridiculous predictions and then NEVER revisit them. They are NEVER held accountable. Not Slaw. Each week I’ll review my previous week predictions and grade it on a Slaw scale of 1 to 10.
Let’s review my Slawdicitions fromWW Ranch and then jump into Thunder Valley.
Prediction
AC is on fire right now. Behind back-to-back wins he’s closed the championship gap to 15. A Florida native, I got AC getting his third straight this weekend.
This is all Marv’s fault! Kidding. AC was good, but got passed by Osborne in the first moto and then went down when Marv came in a tad hot (FYI: The pass was fine).
Slawdiction: 0 out of 10
Prediction
I absolutely love this track for Bam Bam. He only went 6-6 at WW Ranch a year ago, but that’s in the past, doggies. LEAD SLAW LOCK OF THE WEEK: Barcia overall podium.
Not what I expected here. In my defense, he went down in the second moto, so there’s that.
Slawdiction: -5 out of 10
Prediction
I have no clue that is going on with Eli Tomac this year, but it’s not the same guy we’ve seen the last three or so years. I can’t believe I’m typing this, but Tomac has just one moto win and hasn’t scored a moto podium in five of the last six motos. Crazy! Anyway, I don’t see an overall podium for Tomac this weekend.
SON. OF. A.
Slawdiction: -5 out of 10
Prediction
Yeah, yeah, not a crazy hard prediction, but Osborne rebounds from a insane Spring Creek. I’ll make it tough and say he gets second overall behind AC.
Not only did Osborne bounce back, but he went 1-1 to extend his points lead. Crazy to think Osborne is on the cusp of this title.
Slawdiction: 8 out of 10.
Prediction
This title fight between Ferrandis and Martin is fantastic. I think it swings back toward J-Mart this weekend. Starts have been a mystery for Ferrandis, and I think that continues.
I give up.
Slawdiction: 1 out of 10.
Onto this week’s predictions.
Two Star Riders Podium
Add in the altitude and the absolute rocket ships that are the Star Yamaha’s and I predict that TWO Star Yamaha riders make the overall podium at Thunder Valley. Stamp it.
Tomac Gets First
Strange to think Eli Tomac only has one overall win this year, but, hey, 2020, am I right? Anyway, Tomac keeps the momentum going from last week to get his second win of the season in his home state.
Two JGRMX Riders in the Top Ten Overall
Joey Savatgy is slowing progressing from his injury and Fredrik Noren has had an underrated season. I think they both get top 10 overall this weekend. This is my Lead Slaw Lock of the Week.
Marv Off the Podium
One, I’m shocked Marv was even able to race after his gnarly crash in qualifying last weekend. Two, I’m even more shocked he got second overall. I think he’ll be a bit banged up this weekend and won’t get the overall podium.
Another Top Five for Jettson
This kid has been so impressive. A career-high second in the first moto last weekend and he’ll continue his strong rookie season this weekend with a top five overall.
