Quad Lock Honda Racing’s Joey Savatgy announced on Thursday that he will miss round 10 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Birmingham on Saturday due to a broken medial cuneiform in his foot sustained in Indianapolis.
“Unfortunately, not gonna make it this weekend. I tried to give it a go today, first time since obviously I had my incident. Yeah, I tried, taped it. Had it in a brace. Big thank you to Gaerne for making me something to be able to get a brace in the boot,” he said in a social post. “Yeah, tried tape, brace, Tylenol, you name it, tried everything I could do to be ready for this weekend, yeah, and unfortunately, it’s just not something that feels safe for me to do and, yeah, I’m still in a lot of pain. So, unfortunately, we will not be there this weekend, but, God willing, I will be ready to go for Detroit.”
In the midst of a career year in Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Savatgy had recorded finishes of 7-5 at the last round in Supercross in Indianapolis before landing awkwardly in the third main event. He was unable to finish that race.
Despite the off-weekend in the series, Savatgy has elected to rest an extra week with hopes of returning at round 11 in Detroit.
Through 10 rounds of the championship, Savatgy is 6th in 450SX points with two top-5 finishes.
