Cullin Park Injury Update

In a team press release, Phoenix Honda Racing announced that Cullin Park sustained a dislocated shoulder in the main event of the 250SX East/West Showdown in Birmingham.

On Tuesday, the team announced he would undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season.

Here is the full PR:

During the 250 East/West Showdown in Birmingham, Phoenix Racing  Honda’s Cullin Park sustained a shoulder injury after a hard extension through the  whoop section, followed by a subsequent crash. After further evaluation, Park will miss  the remainder of the 250SX East Division as he is scheduled to undergo surgery on  March 25 to repair ligament damage and anchor fractures in his right shoulder.

“From the moment we tried to get my shoulder back into place on Saturday night, I knew something wasn’t right. The pain and lack of mobility made it clear I needed to get it checked out further. If it were just the labrum and stability ligament tears, I would tough it out and line up in Detroit, because I still have that drive to put myself and the team in a better position in this series. However, the fracture in my shoulder is keeping me from even being able to move my arm right now.

I’m on my way to Nashville to get this taken care of properly and hopefully be back in time for Pro Motocross. I want to thank the entire Phoenix Racing Honda team, my family, Kalie, McCraken, and everyone in my corner for having my back through this. It’s a tough situation, but it could always be worse. I know how much I’ve improved this year, and I’m not at my ceiling yet. That’s all the motivation I need to get through this and come back stronger. See you all soon.” – Cullin Park

With six rounds remaining in the 250SX East Division, Phoenix Racing Honda will  continue to focus on steady progression with Evan Ferry and Gavin Towers, with  Towers set to return to action this weekend in Detroit.

“Losing Cullin, who has been a cornerstone of this team, this early in the series, is a tough blow. That said, we’ve seen firsthand how resilient and determined he is over the years. I have no doubt he’ll do everything possible to come back fully fit and ready to race. Hopefully, we’ll see him return around the start of Pro Motocross, if not shortly after.” – Gary Schlentz, Team Manager
