Sexton Returns! Injury News + Viewing Guide For Detroit

Monster Energy AMA Supercross returns to Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday for round 11 of the 450SX championship, meanwhile the 250SX East Division is entering round 5 of its championship.

Some big news on the injury front this week, as Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chase Sexton makes his long-awaited return to racing after suffering from hip and lower back pain from a crash prior to Daytona.

Also back in action are Dylan Ferrandis and Casey Cochran, who is making his 2026 debut. Scroll on for the latest injury news and your viewing guide for Saturday.

450SX

Dylan Ferrandis – Makes his return from a thumb injury sustained in Daytona.

Austin Forkner – Is out for the rest of the year after undergoing surgery for a hand injury suffered earlier this year. He aims to return for Pro Motocross, where he will drop back down to the 250 Class.

Aaron Plessinger – Is out for this weekend, KTM announced on Thursday. AP had a big crash in Birmingham and the team said he’s still feeling the effects from the crash.

Joey Savatgy – Broke a medial cuneiform in his foot in Indianapolis and it is unclear at this time if he will race in Detroit.

Update: The series announced on Saturday morning that Savatgy will race in Detroit.

Chase Sexton – Returns after missing the last few rounds due to pain in his lower back and hip due to a crash prior to Daytona.

250SX East

Pierce Brown – Dislocated his wrist and sustained a broken collarbone in a crash in Birmingham. He’s out for the immediate future.

Casey Cochran – Will make his 2026 debut after breaking his collarbone prior to the start of the season.

Cullin Park – Is out for the year after undergoing shoulder surgery due to an injury sustained in a crash in Birmingham.

Jalek Swoll – Will miss the remainder of Supercross — and possibly more — after injuring his Achilles in Birmingham. It is the opposite Achilles he injured in 2025. He was scheduled to undergo surgery this week.

Gavin Towers – Is back after missing time due to a shoulder injury and concussion sustained in Indy.
