Daytona RCSX Kicks Off! The Sunday Rundown and Standouts So Far

On the heels of the 51st annual Daytona Supercross, the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross has kicked off on Sunday and claimed some victims already. If you are reading this you probably witnessed one of the most carnage filled supercross races we have seen in quite some time and that didn’t go away when the amateurs hit the track. Grenades going off left and right and it claimed some big names along the way. Much like the pro race, I’m unsure if it is the track design, the dirt, nerves, or if everyone ate some bad slaw but sheesh I hate seeing this many people go down.

For full results from Sunday, go here.

There was a ton of hype with the B classes coming into the Spring National stretch but that has all been put on hold, at least for now. We saw a couple massive crashes from both Daxton Bennick and Gage Linville of which were almost identical. You take them out along with Gavin Towers who opted out due to a wrist injury and the class suddenly much shallower than first anticipated. Ryder Difrancesco took both B mod classes in convincing fashion. In fact, thus far Ayden Shive is the only one to hand him a L but that came in Schoolboy 2. We will see if Difrancesco can sweep come main event time.

The Team Green machines keep finding their ways up front with Jett Reynolds also taking a couple of heat race wins in the A classes in very convincing fashion. Speaking of the A/Futures classes, a ton of dudes made their mark and put themselves in great positions for gate picks for the main. Brandon Ray joined the battle all the way from NorCal and made it known he’s not here to f*** around along with Wyatt Liebeck, Carter Biese, Jace Kessler, Hunter Yoder, and Luca Marsalisi. To take a page out of Weege’s book, this isn’t supercross, this is startcross. If any of them can grab a start and put some distance between themselves and the pack we could see an upset of sorts. Time will tell!

The mini cycle classes are as advertised! Full of little rippers absolutely sending it, from 65s sending the finish line triple to the stacked 85 heats. Main event day will not disappoint.

Can we talk about melting pot that is Supermini and Mini Sr classes? They are STACKED! Casey Cochran, Krystian Janik, Luke Fauser, Tiger Wood, Agustin Barreneche, Kelana Humphrey, Drew Adams, Noah Viney, and Kyleigh Stallings just to name a few, are all mixing it up across four different classes! Keep an eye out for these cats.

Notable rides:

Justin Allen: The kid is ripping his 125 to shreds with very convincing wins in both Schoolboy 1 and 125 B/C. I look for him to carry that same swag into the mains and grab some titles.

Luke Fauser: The kid went down early in practice at Mini O’s and had to call it a week before it even started. He is back and looking mighty comfy in Supermini and Mini Sr. putting himself in the mix with the hitters.

Austin Kapoukranidis: He took advantage of Gage Linville’s misfortune to take a heat race W in 450B Ltd then backed it up with a second in 450B. Lets see if that intensity keeps up in the mains.

Tayce Morgan: This kid was absolutely SENDING it in 65cc 7-9. JS7 sized Daytona sends and we are here for it.

Thats a wrap for me tonight, See everyone tomorrow with a full recap of all the happenings from Daytona.

We met Jeff sleeping in a tent down the street from Loretta Lynn's... with his computer. At that point, we knew he would fit in with us. Then, he then drank all the white claw flavors none of us liked, and that's when we knew it was meant to be. Jeff officially became part of the crew.
We're terrible at asking questions, so we're not exactly sure what Jeff does for a living, but he loves petting his cats and dog, growing his beard, and living in a cornfield in Michigan. Jeff also likes to wear cycling glasses while driving his car and using his cameras. We like Jeff.
