When you’re in this sport you’re married to it, especially these riders who have been at this riding/training thing their entire lives. So, whenever the off-weekend comes around I like to bother them and find out what they did for fun! I text as many riders that I can and if they don’t text back then I assume that they are still on the golf course. Right???? So, lucky for you, these guys wrote me back and a lot of them were gearing up for the Masters tournament this weekend: It’s a tradition unlike any other…
A-a-ron Plessinger started off his weekend with a tooth pulling, which is never any fun, so he laid low with his family. He did get one day of motocross practice in.
Dean Wilson is full-on dad life now and he also said that he did nothing exciting and chilled with the fam.
Josh Cartwright took the week off from riding, but did ride on Saturday with all of his Texas moto friends. He said it was fun to just kick it with his boys at the track. On Sunday they all went golfing. “We obviously all shot just like Tiger Woods…not,” Cartwright said. “Golf is fun…kind of.”
Levi Kitchen golfed a poop ton. His words…not mine.
Alex Ray had a date night with his fiance and she whooped him at some games of pool. I think ARay needs to race until at least 2025.
Chris “I’m not racing” Blose has been doing so much traveling back and forth to SoCal this season that he just laid low with the family and hung out with his boys.
Benny Bloss took his family to the beach and didn’t invite me.
Chase Marquier didn’t do anything too fun, but he did get a round of golf in.
Jeremy Hand went golfing and mountain biking.
AJ Catanzaro moved to the beach in Naples, Florida. No big deal.
Troy Dog Squad’s own Grant Harlan did “nothing”.
Troy Dog Squad’s own Justin Starling got the chance to ride some motocross and he said that it was badass. I’m going to try and talk him into racing all the nationals. Wish me luck.
Hunter Yoder played golf, practiced some golf, and went to the gym once. He said “mostly golf in a nutshell”. I think Yoder is planning on hitting the tour one day to make some bank.
Shane McElrath hit the beach, caught some fish, and hung out with Foggy Llama Films. Have you seen Shane’s vlogs that Foggy puts together? They are fantastic and I’m a BIG fan of this collaboration.
Troy Dog Squad’s own Derek Kelley played pickleball. He’s been playing it for a couple of months now and it’s really fun. So that was a new answer and maybe he can create a new hobby for racers here instead of golf.
Last but definitely not least, John Short won this past weekend with the birth of his daughter. Congratulations to the Short family!
