Jorge Prado After Top Five at Southwick: “Hopefully we improve somehow”

Jorge Prado was back… kind of. This wasn’t the full Prado experience at Southwick, but it was signs of life. After High Point, it felt like a step in the right direction at least.

According to multiple reports, the Kawasaki team spent the break testing with Prado at ClubMX in South Carolina, working through current issues.

In addition, Prado is now working with Hall of Famer Chad Reed, who recently moved to ClubMX. While crashes took him out of contention Saturday at Southwick, things were better.

Yet following 5-6 motos for fifth overall, the multi-time World Championship said things are still very far away. In an interview with Steve Matthes, Prado talked about what is happening and what still needs to improve.

“We are far off,” he said. “I mean, I’m a sand rider and I finished P5 today. It’s a track where I should be winning, and I know I would win with different stuff. So yeah, we just need to keep working. Yeah, they we did some testing the first week after High Point. I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. Hopefully we improve somehow.”

He also spoke about working with Reed:

“We started on Wednesday,” he said. “We were at Club, and we were just talking and he was like, “Hey, I think I can help with some stuff.” And he just came out and we did some tweaks to the bike too, and together we built a little relationship over the last weeks at Club, and it’s clicking. So for example today after before moto two on the sighting lap, I did a little adjustment. I didn’t like it. And I was like, ‘Hey Chad, I need this and this and this.’ And he was like, all right, let me think. And then we talked with the suspension guy and we touched the right stuff, and I felt it right away in the moto.”

Will this lead to US fans seeing the real Prado soon? Time will tell, but signs of life were present at Southwick.
