TL;DR, Oakland: Tomac Ties the GOAT, Sexton Crashes Late, Oakland Gone? and More

Welcome to TL;DR, where we here at Vurb give you some quick stuff about racing and just some fun stuff from the weekend.

Want to read a longer race report? Probably in the wrong place. Want some short facts and stats? Welcome and enjoy.

Obviously we will have more later in the week.

Tomac Ties RC

With his incredible win last night, Eli Tomac is now tied with Ricky Carmichael on the all-time Supercross wins list with 48. Tomac now trails James Stewart for second all-time by just two. INSANE!

“Yeah, it’s special. Anytime you can tie RC on anything it’s really good,” Tomac said. “I’m just thankful for the success I’ve had in my 450 career, and the whole Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team for making that possible, and giving me the chance to do it. Looking back now, whatever it was, ten years ago when I started in the 450 Class, did I think I’d be here? I would say no, but anyway… I don’t know where I’m going with this. It’s cool to be here with number 48.”

Sexton….

Man, hard not to feel bad for Chase Sexton at this point. He crashed away a win for the second week in a row and lost second to hard charging Cooper Webb late in the race. I have no idea what is causing this… I doubt Chase does either.

“Up until the crash I felt so comfortable and so smooth. I had a really good flow going. I wish I could tell you what happened,” Sexton said. “I landed and there was a two-wheel slide and there was nothing I could do. It’s really hard to get back into the flow with a track like that. The bike was fine. I was fine. Just trying to get back into the flow was tough.”

Oakland Gone?

Oakland Coliseum, currently branded as RingCentral Coliseum (whatever that is), is a crap hole. The stadium is trash. Seriously, just Ask Jeeves. The Raiders are gone. The A’s want to go and now it appears Supercross is out as well. Per Steve Matthes, he of PulpMX Hockey Fame, it looks like we are headed back to San Fran next year. THANK GOODNESS!

Chad Reed was a Big Fan of the Track

Agree with the former champ? I loved it but again I wasn’t riding and don’t have 44 career wins like Reed.
