TL;DR: Tomac Staying for Pro Motocross; Updates on AC, Savatgy, Ferry; Tight Points Race and More

Welcome to TL;DR, where we here at Vurb give you some quick stuff about racing and just some fun stuff from the weekend.

Want to read a longer race report? Probably in the wrong place. Want some short facts and stats? Welcome and enjoy.

Obviously we will have more later in the week.

Tomac Is Staying

The Pro Motocross season just got a lot more interesting. Defending champion Eli Tomac will return. After inking a Supercross-only deal for 2023 with Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing, the current 450SX points leader is staying to defend his Pro Motocross title and will also compete in the SuperMotocross Playoffs.

“At the beginning of the season, I truly thought this was going to be a farewell tour, but I’ve been having too much fun racing my motorcycle,” said Tomac. “I have been enjoying every minute along the way with the team, so I’m excited to announce that I will be racing the entire SMX series.”

Thrasher Is Insane

Good for Nate Thrasher to bounce back from a devastating loss in Tampa to claim his first overall on the season in Arlington. Even crazier? He’s riding with a torn ACL sustained in Houston.

“We’re pretty limited on what we can do just trying to manage it,” Thrasher said of his ACL injury. “It’s been good. We’ve just been putting the laps in and doing the best we can and coming to the race weekend the best recovered. That’s pretty much all we can do. It sucks it happened in Houston and it’s a bummer, but we’ll be good. We’re just going to keep fighting. There’s no excuses. Everybody is dealing with something, so we’ll just keep pushing through it.”

Savatgy Update

Rick Ware Racing’s Joey Savatgy has been having a great season. Unfortunately for Jo Dawg, he sustained a wrist injury during the first race of the Triple Crown in Arlington and wasn’t able to line up for the second or third race. On Twitter, he stated he’s hoping it’s just a sprain.

AC Update

Speaking of wrist injuries. Adam Cianciarulo missed Arlington after aggravating his wrist during Friday’s press day session. There isn’t much information out there on AC yet, but we will continue to update. Through six rounds and AC had been inside of the top 10 four times before missing Saturday.

Evan Ferry Update

We hadn’t heard much from Evan Ferry lately. But he returned to action for Supercross Futures in Arlington. Unfortunately for Lil Red Dog, he had a big crash in qualifying and will unable to line up for the main event.

“Wanted to give everyone an update, I’m alright just had a gnarly crash this morning in qualifying. Thank you to everyone that got me here! Going to be taking a couple weeks off and will be back.”
