Slawservation: What Has Surprised Me Through Two Rounds of Monster Energy Supercross

Through two rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship a few things have stuck out to ole Slaw.

I will now list those things in no particular order:

Seth Hammaker starting the season with back-to-back podiums.

Robbie Wageman with back-to-back top 10s at the opening two rounds.

Dominique Thury’s ninth at the opener.

I would mention Stank making the main on a 125 as a surprise, but I don’t want that smoke.

Justin Barcia holding the red plate with 3-3 finishes.

AC’s shoulder is a much bigger problem than I thought it would be. Hopefully it heals soon, as the dude is showing some speed.

Shane McElrath has been feisty in the heat races. He just needs to transfer it to the mains.

Jason Anderson WON a damn race. This shouldn’t surprise me, but then to think he hasn’t had a win since 2018, it kind of does.

That’s it. That’s my list. Please don’t mention Chris Blose in the comments. His results DO NOT surprise me. He just does what he does. Also, don’t mention the obvious like Christian Craig winning the opening two rounds. Thanks!

As always, please send complaints to Jason Weigandt.

  1. My biggest surprise is Ken Roczen. Hoping he can find some consistency and get back on the box!
