One round down in Pro Motocross and I honestly have no idea what to think about either of the classes. Speaking purely from a fan point of view, this might be the best summer of racing we’ve had in years–in both classes.

With so much still up for debate, I did my best to answer some pressing questions heading into round 2 at Hangtown. You know where to send complaints…

Is this Hunter’s title to lose now?

As I wrote about prior to the opener, Hunter was #2 on my list of title favorites behind Jett. When I posted that, I said I reserved the right to change my mind after watching Fox Raceway.

I have not changed my mind… yet. I could after this weekend, though.

Watching Jett limp around and then hearing what he said post-race about his ankle does have me worried. Jett, certainly not 100% and coming into the opener after a long time off the bike, still got third overall. A lot of things to consider when answering the question above.

If Jett’s injury progress in a positive direction and he continues to find his comfort level, then, like I said prior to the opener, he is still my title favorite. If Jett’s injury doesn’t progress, then Hunter is my title favorite. So, basically what I said prior to Fox Raceway still holds true… for now.

Who will take control of this 250 Class?

I don’t think anyone will. This class is so deep and so wide open, I think we will continue to see results like we saw at Fox Raceway. Good motos, bad motos, a mix of dudes who can win and podium and as fans, this should be awesome.

If I had to say anyone, I’d look in Levi Kitchen’s direction. That first moto was special. But, as I noted above, there were two motos and Levi got unlucky and it allowed Seth to take control.

Welcome to the 250 Class in 2026.

Who are the most likely winners at Hangtown?

In the 450 Class, I can’t pick against Hunter after what we saw at Fox Raceway. Another week on the bike certainly isn’t going to hurt his chances.

Puts on blindfold, throws dart at point standings and lands on… Levi Kitchen.
