In News That Should Surprise No One, Chase Sexton Wants to Ride For Team USA

GUYS, MASSIVE BREAKING NEWS HERE: CHASE SEXTON WANTS TO RIDE FOR TEAM USA AT THE MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS!

Of course the 450 points leader wants to ride for Team USA. 1) Sexton is from Illinois. The race is in Michigan. It’s basically a home race. 2) He’s never ridden for Team USA. 3) He’s the 450 points leader. 4) He’s never ridden for Team USA. 5) Sexton is from Illinois. The race is in Michigan. It’s basically a home race. 6) He’s the 450 points leader.

Yes, I felt I had to mention those twice.

Anyway, Sexton is a favorite to join Eli Tomac on the 450 with the 250 rider still up in the air. Following a second place finish at Southwick over the weekend, Sexton commented on riding for Team USA and even said he’d drop down to a 250 if needed—although he’d prefer to race a 450.

“I just want to race it, that’s all I want to do,” Sexton said in the press conference. “That’s been a dream of mine, I wanted to go last year, obviously we didn’t go. But this year, being at RedBud if it doesn’t rain, it’s probably going to be the biggest motocross race ever, I hope. So if I can be a part of that, it would make my day for sure.”

“I just think we send the best team,” he added. “That’s the bottom line, whoever that is. If I’m not picked, if I’m not the best guy, then that’s fine. If it came down to it, then yes [I would ride the 250]. I don’t want to ride a 250, I want to race the 450 Class, but if that’s what it takes, I gotta be open minded, I guess but I want to race the bike I have been racing all year.”

There you have it. Can it be September already?
