Here Is How Cooper Webb Can Clinch the Title at Salt Lake City 1

While it’s unlikely, Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb could clinch his second Monster Energy Supercross title this weekend at Salt Lake City 1, round 16 of the championship.

Cooper has a 16-point gap on second place Ken Roczen entering the weekend, and since he owns the tie-breaker (most wins), if he picks up 10 points on Roczen in SLC, the title is his.

Let’s break this down a bit.

If Cooper wins…

This would be the easiest route to the title for Webb. If he picks up his eighth win of the season and Roczen finishes seventh or worse, the title would be his, as 26 points is awarded to the winner and seventh gets 16.

If Cooper gets second…

This would be tough, but we’ll give you this scenario anyway. If Cooper gets second (23 points), Roczen would have to finish tenth (13 points awarded for tenth) or worse. Again, not likely.

If Cooper gets third..

Again, this isn’t likely, but you get the point. If Cooper gets third (21 points) Roczen would have to finish 12th (11 points) or worse.

So, while this title will probably come down to Salt Lake City 2 next weekend, there are a few scenarios where Cooper could clinch this weekend.
