Grant Langston Leaving Pro Motocross Broadcast Team Effective Immediately

Some big news dropped in the world of broadcasting today, as long-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross color analyst Grant Langton announced on Instagram that he is leaving the broadcast effective immediately.

Langston, who joined the broadcast in 2014, has enjoyed a successful run as the color analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Jason Weigandt. 

The 2007 AMA Motocross Champion has become a popular figure amongst the broadcast. 

A replacement has yet to be named. 

Below is Langston’s official announcement. 

“A couple people in the TV compound tested positive for COVID-19. So I just found out even though if I get a negative test back I still can not go to the race this weekend at Ironman because I have not been vaccinated. 

“If you get a negative test and have been vaccinated you can go. So in my opinion it’s not really about COVID, it’s about the vaccine. This is coming to me that its the new CDC guidelines not necessarily MAV, Lucas or NBC. So it’s a pretty unfortunate situation. 

“With that said, they did tell me I could come to the final two events. I must say I’m a little frustrated that with a negative test I still cannot go. So after a lot of thought I have made the decision to quit Pro Motocross announcing effective immediately. It’s a pity it has to end this way. It was a great run, almost eight seasons. Thanks everyone for the kind words and all the compliments over the years, its meant a lot to me.”

    But man myself, my family and friends stand you behind 100%..it’s total BS they can stick there needles where the sun don’t shine!!!
    I’m sure in a few years when people start dropping like flies due to the virus it’ll make sense….no needles no way forever!!!!

  11. Doubt he will be missed by many. We adjust we move on and the past will be just the past. Sad his career will end with such a mark. And I dont think that at this point he can think things through and say ?Sorry, I made a mistake and would like to return.

  12. Cool, leave. The fact of the matter is that everyone that is refusing to get vaccinated is killing off more people with their idiocy when they could simply be helping the greater good. I’d love to say I’m surprised at this response and the general response of the motocross community, but sadly, it’s the same old story.

    So go ahead and leave Grant, I thought you were a better person than what your announcement reveals. But broadcasting of motocross will go on without you.

  20. This situation is really a shame. Government officials are not all vaccinated, but that seems to be okay. There are also a lot of false negatives with this virus. I personally will miss Grant as he has done a great job over the years. Let them try to find someone else that has the knowledge Grant does. I think I’m done watching Mav and NBC sports.

  32. Well that just sucks! The Langston-Weege combo was great. But Grant hit the nail on the head when he said it’s about the vaccine and not about COVID.

    I’m glad he’s taken a stand on this global complarce exercise and I support him 100%. Sadly, many of us are going to be FORCED to make the same decision soon.

  33. GRANT was easily thee BEST annoucer this sport has had. His knowledge, delivery and humor were always spot on!
    Id stand beside this guy any day as he stood his ground! Im expecting a decision like he made is in the futire for alot of us!
    Do your homework…alot of it on the vaccines, whis behind them, how they were forced on us and what are the actual side effects people are having from this…before allowing them to stick it in you!

  35. the icu’s are full , the HARD WORKING doctors and nurses are quitting because they can’t get ahead of the amount of unvaxxed cases they are getting and their tired of watching people die….heart attack victims can just wait in the hall because there is no icu’s open……..how free are you with a tube down your throat..? its about everyone trying to beat this virus.

I wish the best for you and can only hope there are more like you because that is what it’s going to take for things to be corrected.

  41. Yeah this has gone too far. I have been vaccinated, but I can still pass Covid-19 to others. So it’s not about protecting others, it must be forced drug sales. You will be missed greatly and made watching races much better.

  44. Y’all in the comments know that both Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson were FOR vaccine mandates and Jefferson enacted them for smallpox. It is not the “right” of any individual to put the public at risk.

    Also, mRNA vaccines have been in human trials for over 10 years, and been being researched since SARS. All the mRNA vaccine does is show your white blood cells what the COVID spike protein looks like. Think of it as taking morning practice laps rather than trying to go full blast off the gate without seeing the track. Much easier if you know what to expect isn’t it?

    Call me a sheep if you want, but I’d rather be a sheep than a lemming, and y’all are running full bore at that cliff, and dragging the rest of us with you.

  45. I don’t really understand . Your parents vaccinated you as kids, you still get random shots here and there growing up, but you all are scared of a vaccine that can save tons of lives. I thought higher of the moto community, your comments here leave me speechless wondering how so many are so ignorant. For those that say “I’ll quit watching” , well you never were a fan if you can just quit watching.

Thank you for taking a stand on this BS jab they are calling a vaccine you are to be commended for sacrificing your career to send the message that it not ok to force people to get the jab and possible die from it, it’s coercion and against the Nuremberg code. My wife and I are unvacinated also and will never get the jab. We belong to a group of more than 3,000 people in Central Oregon fighting this unconstitutional order.
    Anyone who does there own research knows it is not safe and the body’s own immune system is the best answer. Keep up the good fight, be safe
