Wrist Injury Sidelines Kade Johnson From Houston SMX Next Main Event

Team Green Kawasaki’s Kade Johnson confirmed on his social media that he sustained a wrist injury during the second qualifying session of SMX Next on Saturday in Houston and was unable to lineup for the main event.

“Unfortunately, I sustained a wrist injury during second qualifying at Houston SX Next @supercrosslive. The severity is still unknown but hoping minor,” he wrote on social. “I attempted a sight lap before the main event, but the pain was too much to safely continue.”

After finishing 16th at the opening round of SMX Next at Anaheim 2, Johnson was fifth fastest in qualifying in Houston.

“Pulling off the track is one of the hardest things a racer can do, especially knowing how much hard work, time, and sacrifice so many people put in to keep me racing and of course how much I personally love to race,” he continued on social. “To be honest, it’s a bummer deal. But I’m incredibly grateful for all the support, messages, and check-ins — it truly means a lot. Thank you to my team and sponsors for continuing to go the extra mile and having my back. We’ll regroup and keep moving forward.”

We will continue to update Johnson’s status ahead of round 3 of SMX Next which takes place Feb 28 at Daytona Supercross.
