It takes a special type of person to survive a night of two wheeled anarchy on the ground floor of AMA Arenacross. At any time someone may saw off your front wheel or you may get blindsided by a flying Tuff Block from another lane. We take a moment to get to know these legends once they remove their armor and return safely to the recliner before loading up to fight another battle. This is Words with Warriors.
If you’ve watched AX in 2024 you’ve likely learned that Crocket “The Rocket” Myers and “Captain” Cody Groves are neck and neck in the running for the Arenacross ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award. During the live practice show on ArenacrossAllAccess.com Groves promised a no-hander-lander if he won a qualifier… a freestyle trick Arenacross hasn’t seen since the 90s when Mad Mike Jones plowed through corner markers to t-bone his competition and won the “Jump-Off” competitions by placing Crown Royal bags over his helmet.
Groves didn’t land without his hands or torpedo anyone through inside markers in his qualifier, but he did continue making main events aboard the RM Army #315. Unfortunately, his media relations are as loose as his program (we hope that’s why) or we need to send a search party out. Regardless, like a no-handed-lander this attempted interview also ended in sketchy form.
That’s it… the secret intel into the most interesting mind of AMA Arenacross was clipped. It’s “Captain” Cody Groves so he could be pounding laps, beers, or babe’s, but we lost contact. On social media we did see an extension to the Arenacross course at the Shoals so we assume he’s gearing up for an all-out assault on the competition at this weekend’s AMA Arenacross in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
