Slawdictions for San Diego: Tomac Grabs First Win on a Yamaha

Following a nearly 99 percent pick rate over the first two rounds, I’m here to bring you the most flame, fire, fuego, feu, Пожар predictions for the third round of Monster Energy Supercross in San Diego.

NONE of this would be possible without the folks at FLY Racing, who have stepped in to support Slaw and #slawnation couldn’t be happier. Visit www.flyracing.com and support those who support Slaw.

As always, we will first review my predictions from the last round in Oakland…

Prediction

THIS WAS JO AT THE START OF THE 250 RACE AT A1!!!!!!

And he still came all the way back to get seventh. Sushi rebounds this week and snags a podium.

Everything was going fine. WE were in the lead. Then Jo stalled. Then Jo pulled a classic California roll and the podium went up in smoke. No need to worry, doggies. JO WILL BOUNCE BACK.

Slawdiction: 10 out of 10 for the dismount.

Prediction

If you read the headline to this article, you’d probably think I’m picking Webb to win. I am not. What I am doing is picking Webb to do Webb stuff aka not qualify well, look okay in his heat and then completely TURN IT AROUND in the main to grab a second straight podium. Hot take? No. Bold prediction? No. Right prediction? Yes.

Nope. This does NOT count. Nope. Webb qualified AMAZING. And WE were certainly lined up for another podium. It didn’t happen. Want to know why? HE WAS SICK!!!! If healthy, he 100 percent would have podiumed.

Slawdiction: Incomplete

Prediction

As Bird mentioned, A1 was basically Wrestlemania and I’m so here for it. None of the stuff I saw was crazy dirty and certainly wouldn’t fit into the “dangerous” riding category. A1 created some damn fireworks on the track and in the stands (if you know, you know). Do I think Malcolm and Mr Fried will get revenge? Probably not. But dudes are so jacked right now and everyone thinks they can contend for a title so I expect the aggressive racing to continue.

I’m just gonna leave this here:

Slawdiction: 109090 out of 10.

Prediction

What in the fu** is Mike Genova putting in his bikes? First it was Alessi (in fairness, Alessi has always been a good starter no matter the bike) and now Vince Friese (in fairness, Friese has always been a good starter no matter the bike). Whatever. All I’m saying is Vince can nail a start, dog! He does it again this weekend. LEAD SLAW LOCK OF THE WEEK.

Okay, okay, he didn’t get the holeshot. But did you see Blair’s Breakdown where Tony Alessi said Vince was a better starter than Mike Alessi!!!!!!! Vince wasn’t really having it, but Tony doubled down. Love it. NFG!

Slawdiction: 1090903 out of 10. Dude, Tony said he was basically the best starter ever. That’s a win in my book.

Prediction

Yep, that’s right. Calling it right here, right now. Sex Dog fixes his mistakes and finally grabs his first career win. Stamp it.

Yeah….

Slawdiction: -600 out of 10.

Let’s move to San Diego….

Craig Triples in Cali

Bold prediction, I know. But what you want me to do, doggies? Dude is en fuego right now and unless he makes a mistake, he’s gonna win a third straight to start the season. Not all my predictions are bold, but they are all correct.

Tomac Makes It a Yamaha 1-1

That’s right, calling it right here, right now: Eli Tomac grabs his first win of the season and first on a Yamaha. You heard it here first. Tomac is starting to pick up momentum on his new bike and if he gets a start, he’s going to win this bad boy.

Anderson Takes the Red Plate

Love what I’m seeing from Mr. Fried. Love it. While Bam Bam has been super good, I just think the Fried is going to be better this weekend. He trails Barcia by three and I think he takes over the points lead for the first time since 2018 when he won his championship.

Malcolm Podiums

I’m not super confident in this pick, but hey, gotta shoot your shot sometimes. Mookie has been super solid through two rounds and for some reason I think he takes it a step further this weekend and grabs a podium.

We Get a Surprise 250 Podium Guy

With Hammaker now out, I think we see a surprise on the 250 podium this weekend. What does a “surprise” mean? You let Slaw be the judge of that.
