Roundtable: 450SX Championship Picks, A Challenger for Deegan, and 450SX Winners

Who is your pick for the 450SX Championship?

Bird Dog (CEO) – Wow, what kind of Harvard degree did it take to come up with this shocking question? I’ll play along though. One thing I’m throwing my money down on is that it WON’T be Jett Lawrence. It doesn’t appear that the veterans of the class are going to allow that to happen without a fight (literally).

I’m with Ricky Carmichael in that, while his results haven’t been amazing, Tomac was flowing like water at A2. He’s going to catch fire over the next few weeks and make good on what should have been a repeat title campaign.

Troy Dog (Editor-in-Chief) – This is a GREAT question. Good job by me, for real. I think I’ll go with Cooper Webb on this one. I saw the fire in his eyes these past two weekends. He’s comfortable on this Star Yamaha and he’s got ice in his veins. He was in the title chase last year until his Nashville head injury and he’s got a chip on his shoulder.

Slaw Dog (Village Idiot) – Real unique question, Troy. Four rounds, four winners and the top of the class is about to feed off each other… or someone gets hot and runs away with it. I don’t think that happens. I’m going Webb. They made the mistake of pissing him off and as I said last week, bad idea.

The 250SX East Region is kicking off this weekend in Detroit. Does anybody have anything to challenge Deegan for the title?

Bird Dog (Chief Executive Officer) – As much as I’d like to say yes, I think not. I’m interested to see what the likes of Tom Vialle and Chance Hymas can do. Hymas is coming in under the radar after tearing his ACL last season. He seems to ride with a chip on his shoulder and would love nothing more than to steal some of the limelight from Deegan.

Outside of that I could see Forkner (fingers crossed he doesn’t get hurt), McAdoo (fingers crossed he doesn’t get hurt) and Hammaker (fingers crossed, well, you get the point) tossing their helmet into the ring, but none will be able to outlast the consistency Deegan has shown since turning pro.

Troy Dog (Chief-in-Editor) – I really think that we’re going to see a different Austin Forkner this year. HE IS GOING TO STAY HEALTHY! Forkner is in the veteran role (like Hampshire and Smith) and he has the speed to get the job finished. I’m BIG on Forkner this year and this is the year he gets it done.

Slaw Dog (The Worst) – C’mon. Yes, someone does. Deegan is still one of the favorites, but the East is STACKED. It’s going to be a great series.

We’ve had four winners in four rounds. How many more winners do we see in 450SX and who are they?

Bird Dog (Executive Officer Chief) – Sorry, I actually fell asleep after reading this softball question. Hmmm, I think we get two more winners. Probably Anderson and Tomac if I had to guess, but I’d like to see Kenny get in the mix and steal one. Screw it, I’ll say three more winners for a total of (hang tight while I grab my Ti83 calculator) seven!

Troy Dog (Editor-Chief-in) – Another great question by me! Slaw sucks. I’m going to go with seven winners. Ken Roczen, Eli Tomac, and Jason Anderson will also win a main event.

Slaw Dog (Smells Like Old Cabbage) – Another fantastic question. I’ll go six.

Slaw note: I think I’m going to have to take over questions next week. Poor performance by Troy. Sad. Real sad.
