Rodbell Joins the Squad Pod: Here’s a Preview

It’s been a while since we’ve heard the name Justin Rodbell. You probably forgot, but Rodbell tore his Achilles around Thanksgiving last year and has been on the mend since. Well, earlier in the week I noticed he was posting some Instabangers and I figured he was getting closer to racing again. So, I called him up to get the scoop.

Not only did Rodbell give me information on his injury, but we talked about his amateur career, his pro career to date, the highs and lows, and his HEP Suzuki fill-in last year. We also talked about the “summer of Rodbell” that Steve Matthes coined a few years ago that still gets brought up to this day.

I was pleased to find out that Rodbell is no longer working in the HVAC field, especially with his Achilles injury. He’s been working at the South of the Border Training Facility, where he’s been riding and getting back up to speed.

Now, the major news that I tried to get out of him was that he told me he was in for the last four nationals the day before we recorded the pod. Then on the pod he comes on and says that he’s doing the last three. I can 99.9% guarantee that Rodbell will be lining up at Washougal on his KTM 250SX two-stroke for the purse put up by Moto Memes, Motosport, and Jettson Donuts.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that it’s not too late for it to be “the summer of Rodbell” again in 2023. It’ll be more of a “portion of Rodbell’ if you will, but regardless Rodbell will be back soon. He’s got some goals that he still wants to accomplish and most of those reside in proving himself in SX.

We get into all of this and more on the Squad Pod next week! Listen to all five episodes on the Vurb Pod Network and make sure you follow @troydogvurb and @vurbpodnetwork on Instagram and Twitter. As always, thank you for all of your support!
