A day after Husqvarna Mobility announced it was shutting down its in-house factory team (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and instead supporting “independent teams and riders with factory level materials and technical expertise for the SMX series” following the 2026 SuperMotocross Playoffs, Malcolm Stewart has released a quote via his social media accounts.
“Yeah, I know everyone’s already seen the news by now,” Stewart wrote. “Not exactly how I thought things would go after being locked in through ’27, but that’s the business. I’ve been through this before, so you learn to keep it moving. Looking forward to seeing the fans in Salt Lake.”
As with the teams other 450 rider, RJ Hampshire who made a similar announcement on Wednesday, it appears Stewart will be looking for a new home for 2027.
Stewart, who is currently 8th in 450SX points, joined the team ahead of the 2022 season and has enjoyed great success with the brand.
Last season, Stewart finished 4th in 450SX points and claimed his first career 450 win at his home race in Tampa. He followed it up with a 7th in Pro Motocross.
Through 16 rounds, Stewart has one podium finish on the season (Detroit) and is coming off a fourth place finish in Denver.
