Jo Shimoda Provides Update Following Anaheim 3 Crash

Initial reports regarding Jo Shimoda’s status following a crash in his heat race at Anaheim 3 suggested that he didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

“Jo had made some real progress building on his Glendale podium last week. He qualified second, his best so far. It was disappointing to see him crash when he was doing so well. I know he was frustrated afterwards too. Fortunately, after having some scans done at the hospital there was no serious injury and at this point we’re confident we’ll see a fast and determined Jo back in six weeks at Seattle,” said team manager Iain Southwell in a team press release.

It does appear that Shimoda did suffer a foot injury though, as he posted on his personal Instagram yesterday photos of his foot in a cast and another in a walking boot with the following caption:

“Hey guys, just got to check with doctor and yes I’m “hurt”… 😑

“Couldn’t really tell if the dirt was wet or not with the light and went to scrub normally but it honestly surprised me how slippery it was and ended up crashing feel very sorry for guys who is supporting me but hopefully be back at next race. Thank You!”

We’ve heard that Shimoda did suffer a broken foot in the crash, but the team has yet to release an official update. We’ll provide more information once it’s known.

The 250SX West Region returns in Seattle on March 26.
