How Jett Lawrence Can Clinch the 250 Pro Motocross Title at Ironman

New hats are out! Shop Vurb, Be Happy.

It’s a longshot, but Jett Lawrence has a chance to wrap up a second consecutive Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250 title this weekend at round 11 at Ironman.

How can that happen you ask?

Well, after this weekend, only 50 points will remain. Jett enters this weekend with a 37 point gap on second place Jo Shimoda and a 43 point gap on his brother, Hunter.

SO…..

If Jett were to beat Hunter by 7 and Jo by 13, he’s the champ. Simple, right?

Well, not really.

Jett would need to go 1-1, although there are other scenarios, but this is the easiest to calculate.

If Jett goes 1-1, which he hasn’t done since Spring Creek, he would need Shimoda to finish 4-4 or worse and Hunter to finish 3-3 or worse.

Could this happen? Sure, but let’s consider a few things.

Shimoda hasn’t finished off the box since ROUND 4 at High Point in the second moto. Since that time, he’s finished first in a moto twice.

Jett hasn’t won a moto in the last six motos as he nears a second title, so will he go all out to get this done early? Slaw say no. He will keep a level head and take what is there.

So, there you have it. Jett CAN clinch, but it will be difficult.
