The official news dropped on Friday of Eli Tomac’s decision to race the Pro Motocross Championship. It wasn’t too much of a shock, as I think we all could have guessed that he was going to, however it was getting late in the season. We needed an announcement!

The announcement coincidentally had perfect timing with his four minute special on the Peacock broadcast at his home Supercross in Denver this past weekend. TV magic, baby! In that interview Tomac shed some light on his future in racing.

“I still love racing, in general,” Tomac told Will Christien. “That’s why I’m here, so I will be racing in Pro Motocross and SMX. I’m going for all of the 2024 season and I have intention on racing in 2025.”

Tomac also said in this sit-down with NBC Sports that he looked at this season as a rebuilding year, but that he also doesn’t really want to call it that to make any excuses. Maybe the injury to the achilles actually helped preserve Tomac’s career?

“When people talk about age in our sport, I’ve actually looked at other sports and seen how other athletes go at a higher level. I feel like it’s somewhat of a head game at this point in time. When you turn 30, you know, whether or not you can do it or not.”

The good news for all of us is that it seems like Eli Tomac has no plans of retirement quite yet and it seems like he gets fired up when people ask him about it. We’ll have him for 2025 and possibly longer, which is great for the sport in general.
