Brayton, Oldenburg, Nichols and Swoll Out for Oakland

Round 2 of the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship takes place today in Oakland and a few riders will be out due to injury or COVID-19.

Here is the latest on Justin Brayton, Mitchell Oldenburg, Colt Nichols and Jalek Swoll.

Justin Brayton | 450SX

Brayton announced on social media yesterday that he’s tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss this weekend.

“Bummed to say but I tested positive for Covid and will be sitting out this weekends race in Oakland🤷‍♂️ See ya next weekend in SD!

Btw Parker wanted me to wear her glasses in this photo😂”

Mitchell Oldenburg | 450SX

Oldenburg announced on IG yesterday that he will not race this weekend due to his children having COVID-19.

“Unfortunately not going to be racing in Oakland tomorrow.. My family will ALWAYS come first! Both kids woke up with fevers this morning, so @alexandriiarose took them to the childrens hospital in San Diego. Turns out they both have COVID.. Sutton will be staying the night with mom at the hospital, and I will be taking Ryker home to rest. I’m so very sorry to my team and sponsors, and I hope you all can understand where I am coming from.”

Colt Nichols | 250SX

Nichols broke both his arms at the opener and is out for the rest of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season.

“It’s been a tough week, but I wanted to share a quick update with everyone. Unfortunately, my season was over before it started with my crash in the heat race last Saturday. I ended up breaking both arms and had surgery as well as a quick little skin graft to help with the burns on my back from when the bike landed on me. I should be heading home any day to begin the recovery process.

Life doesn’t always make sense, but we must get back up and keep going. Just like my championship post said last May — To Hell And Back — because I’ve overcome far too much to stop now. Appreciate all the messages and support more than you can imagine 💕💪🏽”

Jalek Swoll | 250SX

Swoll is out after sustaining a concussion in a nasty crash at the opener. He wrote on IG he hopes to return for San Diego.

“Out for rd 2, tough pill to swallow but the team and I are protecting me from myself🤷‍♂️ will see you in San Diego.”
