Belgium Ends 13-Year Wait With Motocross of Nations Victory

For the first time since 2013, Belgium has captured the Chamberlain Cup at the Motocross of Nations.

Led by twin brothers Lucas and Sacha Coenen, along with Liam Everts, son of the legendary Stefan Everts, Belgium stood atop the podium at the 2026 FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France, today.

Belgium entered Sunday as one of the favorites, and the trio delivered when it mattered most. Lucas Coenen led the way with 3-5 finishes, while Everts put together a remarkably consistent 4-4 day. Sacha Coenen added a seventh in Race 2, giving Belgium a winning total of 23 points after its worst score was dropped.

Spain kept the pressure on throughout the day, finishing just three points back with 26, while The Netherlands completed the podium with 34 points behind a perfect 1-1 performance from Jeffrey Herlings.

France was done in by crashes from Mathis Valin and Tom Vialle, which led to 38th and 40th place finishes.

Team USA, meanwhile, finished fifth overall with 53 points. Cooper Webb led the American effort with a pair of sixth-place finishes, while Julien Beaumer went 10-17 and Levi Kitchen recorded a 14th in Race 2. Kitchen’s 25th-place finish from Race 1 ultimately became Team USA’s throwaway score.

The victory ends a 13-year wait for one of the most successful nations in Motocross of Nations history and adds another chapter to Belgium’s incredible legacy at the event. For Everts, it also continues a family connection to the Chamberlain Cup, while the 19-year-old Coenen twins can now add Motocross of Nations champions to their rapidly growing résumés.
