Austin Forkner to Undergo Further Testing on Knee Injury Sustained in St. Louis

Triumph Factory Racing’s Austin Forkner will undergo a full medical evaluation in the coming days after suffering a knee injury at the second round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs Saturday in St. Louis, the team announced on Monday.

During the 250 qualifying session, Forkner “dabbed” his leg in a corner and sustained a knee injury which sidelined him for the night.

“St. Louis was good for Jordon and heartbreaking for Austin,” said Jeremy Coker, Triumph Racing’s general manager. “Jordon rode well all day and was looking forward to the motos. Unfortunately, he tipped over in moto one and finished 11th. The second moto was much better, which put him seventh overall and he’s now seventh in points too. Austin dabbed his leg in a corner in qualifying and sustained a knee injury that we are still evaluating, but it put him out for the night. We are looking to make more improvements this week and end the year strong in Las Vegas.”

After undergoing brain surgery last year, Forkner has been in rebuild mode in his first year with Factory Triumph. While it has been a challenging year for the veteran, but there have been many bright spots, including a season-high fifth at the Washougal round of Pro Motocross.

It is still unclear if Forkner will race the final round of the Playoffs this Saturday in Las Vegas.
