As you know, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner has been through some bad injuries the past handful of years. Today he provided an update on his Instagram talking about a condition that he’s known that he’s had since 2017.
Forkner had two procedures last weekend and one surgery to fix an AVM in his brain, which is a cluster of blood vessels that can cause strokes or aneurysms.
“I was planning on coming back for outdoors, my shoulder was feeling good, and they were like hey before you start riding we need to clear you with some head guys because I had a serious concussion,” Forkner said.
From those scans the doctor found out that the AVM had gotten worse, which resulted in Forkner needing this surgery as soon as possible before he began riding again. To prevent any strokes or something worse happening.
Forkner went onto say that the doctor said that he was confident that he would be able to return to riding in three months, which means that Forkner will be back to racing in 2025.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about Forkners recovery and return to racing.
