Aaron Plessinger After Crash with Ken Roczen In Indy “I think I got pretty lucky”

Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger said he “got pretty lucky to get away from” his incident with Ken Roczen in the second 450SX Triple Crown race on Saturday in Indianapolis without any major injuries.

After winning the first race of the night, Roczen was working through traffic in the second race when he messed up in the rhythm section before the finish line and ended up directly in Plessinger’s line. The two slammed into one another as Roczen came down on top of Plessinger in a wild crash.

Roczen was able to remount and finished the second race in 10th. He returned for race three and took home third and finished fifth overall on the night.

Plessinger, meanwhile, was able to get up under his own power by rode directly to the mechanics area, ending his race early. He did not return for the third race.

In a KTM press release, Plessinger said he didn’t break anything and that he just has a bruise on his right arm.

“My day was going alright in Indianapolis and I felt we made some steps forward throughout qualifying. I climbed up to eighth in the first race, which was good, given where I started – I felt I rode pretty well. And then in Race 2, I got a pretty good start inside the top-five before Kenny [Roczen] slid on one of the on-offs, then he went double while I tripled, which had me plough directly into his back tire on the next jump. It took me off the bike and now I have a pretty good bruise on my right arm where his tire hit me, but as bad as it was, I think I got pretty lucky to get away from that one with nothing broken. We didn’t do the third race, which was unfortunate, although now having a weekend off, we’ll keep up the work and keep grinding.”

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship is heading into the lone off weekend of the 17-race championship, so it should give Plessinger a chance to recover.
