Tristan Prueitt

Yep, I’m writing about him again, but how can I not? He won 4 of 5 classes in the SX portion of the week and he’s continued his win streak into MX. He won two of his motos today and received a DQ’d in the other. I’m unsure why he was DQ’d from one moto. Prueitt has a chance to take home seven titles as we roll into the second mains.

Trevor Colip

The recently signed Honda Ti Lube rider did not race the SX portion of the week, but he’s here for 250 Pro Sport and 250A outdoors. I had spoken to him a few weeks before the race and he had high hopes coming into the week. Well, he was right and he showed it today. Colip led for probably over half the race in 250 Pro Sport before giving up the lead to Drew Adams. I caught up with Trevor after and even with a second place finish he said he could do better. Now I would be pretty jacked up about a second against some of the best amateurs, but, Colip is here for gold and gold only

Rain

Well, it finally rained. We had our first look at some mud motos this morning for the first three classes of the day. Let me rephrase this, it was a monsoon for about 30 minutes. The entire Gatborback team paused racing to do some track work and they had the course looking prime. The course got super rough and rutted which made for some good and bad racing. All in all, the track is killer and should provide some good racing over the next few days.

Kane Bollasina

Kane is coming off an injury and has only been back on the bike a few weeks. Kane had some good finishes in SX with three top 10s and so far has a second and third in his motos in SX. I think Bollasina is a sleeper in his classes. Last year Kane seemed to struggle in SX but shined outdoors. Kane won his 85 class, second in Mini Sr 2 and a fourth in 85 mod. While this isn’t a name you hear a bunch, this kid has the talent and seems to ride this track well. Keep your eyes peeled for the 314 in his 2nd motos.

Overall

A handful of riders have really stood out to me this week. Jayce Wolfe has been on a roll this week. The Cobra teammates of Jaydin Smart and Gavin Welzien have been battling each other all week with Beckham Smith giving them a run. Landen Gordon has been super impressive as he made the move to big bikes and took home two moto wins today. Landon Gibson is looking really good also in the B class and has a shot at a title. The racing seems to be getting way more intense on the MX track than what we saw on the SX, so I’m jacked up for moto 2 because it’s gonna be good.
