When the series left Indianapolis last weekend it seemed as though the writing was on the wall. The rookie, Jett Lawrence had just won his third straight race of the season and had extended his points lead to 21-points over Cooper Webb. The momentum was fully in his favor.

Now leaving Seattle we are in a bit of a different circumstance. Jett still has the points lead, but Webb has cut it by five points in one weekend. With six rounds remaining and 16-points separating the top two anything can happen.

Oh, by the way, the defending champion Chase Sexton isn’t going down without a fight either. He seems to be getting better and better every weekend and was 00.592 away from winning in Seattle. He’s 23-points behind Jett, but it’s now under a race lead, which is a better scenario for the Red Bull KTM rider. It’s going to take a little luck for him to win the title this season, but last year at this point he was in a similar predicament and still came away with the championship.

The majority of the remaining races are going to take place in open air stadiums and as we’ve seen so far in 2024, the weather doesn’t care if SX is in town. Actually, it seems like rain is a huge fan of Monster Energy Supercross because it always shows up. Despite the wetness, these three are the cream of the crop in 450SX this season. Your champion will be one of these three.

When you look at it on paper 16-points is a pretty big amount to manage with six rounds remaining. Jett is experienced enough to do this. He’s also been the best rider this year, so he could easily pop off a win next weekend in St. Louis, Coop could get second again, and extend his lead to 19. Or, as we’ve seen, what if Jett feels like it’s not his night once again? What if we have the same podium finish in St. Louis as we did in Seattle? That would cut Jett’s lead to 11-points and five rounds remaining. Come to think of it, a 16-point lead is actually nothing at this stage in the game. We could go over a million scenarios, but nothing is guaranteed, it’s just fun to bench race about.

One thing that is for sure is that these guys will never give up. They’ve all gotten to this point in their careers because they never have given up anything while racing. We have three champions who have been there and won championships at the highest level in this sport.

Who do ya got? The sensational rookie? A two-time champion who will never back down? The defending champ?

May the best man win. This is going to be fun to watch down the line.
