The Kid is Alright

I remember being in Florida in December of 2020. We were setting up for an epic week of night shoots for Jett Lawrence’s Red Bull athlete debut.

Hearing the track concept being talked about was one thing. Seeing the track being developed/built was another. Seeing this 17-year-old kid ride a SX track that was 3-4ft wide with an effortless flow? Ridiculous.

He did it (and continues to do so years later) with what can only be described as a laser-focused enthusiasm for the sport and a competitive nature that propels him to the front of the class on a weekly basis.

The next two-plus years after the Red Bull debut shoot saw him grab two 250SX titles and two 250MX titles. In his 450 debut this weekend he went 1-1 on the day in DOMINATING fashion. I remember talking with his agent, Lucas Mirtl, during breaks in shooting. The effortless flow referenced above was hard not to talk about and at one point Lucas leaned over and said “Wait until ya see him on a 450.”

He did not disappoint.

Although we’re only one race in on the big bikes, it seems the lights are never too bright for Jett Lawrence.
