Thank You Dylan Ferrandis

GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin went 2-1 at round 3 of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross to claim his second straight 250 overall, but even Jeremy would admit that the fastest rider on the track Saturday was current points leader Dylan Ferrandis.

Ferrandis dominated the first 250 moto, cruising to a commanding 26 second win over Martin; his fastest lap was more than two seconds faster than Martin’s. Ferrandis took a risk with the far inside gate and it paid off in the first moto. In the second moto, he got pinched and ended up going down and was dead, dead last! Like, pretty sure he was more than 30 seconds back (we can’t be sure, because the AMA doesn’t track times until riders cross the finish line).

Let’s see how far he gets ???? @DylanFerrandis goes down in the first turn while last week’s overall winner @JeremyMartin6 takes the holeshot in the second moto ✊#LetsTakeItOutside

Not surprising, Ferrandis came all the way back to third and salvaged second overall on the day. It was an impressive ride and you’d think Ferrandis would be happy with it. Nope!

Yeah, that’s a real bummer,” he said in the post-race press conference. “Honestly, tonight and last Saturday night I’m so frustrated. I’m not happy, honestly. I’m not happy because the way I ride, I should be 1-1 today. Last weekend for sure was mud conditions, but I could do better. This weekend, I’m really, really frustrated. For sure, my crew of people around me, they were really happy. They were really proud of what I did, but to me personally, if you ask me if I’m okay, no. I’m not okay. I’m so mad. I’m really mad right now. It’s not fun to be faster and to not win. It’s mentally hard. It’s weird to say, but it’s a little hard tonight and also last Saturday night. I’m not happy at all.

THANK YOU, DYLAN!

Look, Ferrandis isn’t the most popular rider with fans, but if you listen to what he says, he’s one of the more honest, open riders in the pits—and I love it.

I want to see this emotion. If you think you’re a contender to win races every weekend, there is NO WAY you’re ever happy to get second. Most riders just won’t express it.

This emotion from Dylan is what we need. Thank you!
