Talon Hawkins to Make Pro Debut at Spring Creek

Racer X broke the news yesterday: Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Talon Hawkins will make his pro debut this weekend at the Spring Creek National.

The 18-year-old Californian raced the Scouting Moto Combined at RedBud earlier this month, but will now race with the pros this weekend.

Hawkins will still race Loretta’s the first week in August, but is using this weekend as a warm-up for the race. Hawkins is coming off a third overall in 250 Pro at Mammoth and will be one to watch at Loretta’s.

Also, cool: He’ll be rocking 339 this weekend. He told Racer X why:

“So, there were a couple numbers available but there was nothing with 71 in it [Talon’s amateur number]. So, I pretty much had to think outside the box here. It was one off of JLaw’s [Jason Lawrence] number, so that was kind of a contributing factor. The 338 wasn’t available, so 339 is the next best thing. Actually, the main contributing factor was my boy Josh Grant, #33. That was the only number with 33 in it. That’s like my idol since I was a little kid. Actually, we’ve grown to be really good friends with our whole family. So, that was probably the main contributing factor.”
