Jeremy Martin is officially back with Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing for the 2025 Pro Motocross season. While it was initially reported as a three-race deal, in the announcement today the team confirmed it is for the full season:
“Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing is pleased to announce that Jeremy Martin will join the team to race the 2025 Pro Motocross season aboard their potent YZ250F.”
With Cole Davies, Daxton Bennick, Max Anstie, and Pierce Brown all expected to miss time this summer, Martin is a much need addition to injury riddled squad.
Martin is no stranger to the team. He turned pro with Star in 2012 and remained through 2016, winning two 250 Class Pro Motocross titles (2014 and 2015). After a stint with GEICO Honda, he returned to Star in 2021 when the GEICO team folded.
He then moved to ClubMX Yamaha, but injuries plagued his time there and Martin stepped away from racing in 2024 and has been working at Star on weekends running the VIP tours for fans at Monster Energy AMA Supercross races. Now, he’s back to racing full-time.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to line up this Saturday with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team,” Martin said. “It’s been a lot of fun grinding with the crew during the week and building myself back up to a competitive level. I’m excited to get behind the gate and enjoy the process!”
“We’re excited to welcome back J-Mart to the team for the outdoor season,” added team manager Jensen Hendler. “He’s a proven title contender and knows what it takes to win. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can do this summer.”
What Can We Expect?
Honestly? No clue. At one point, J-Mart was the fastest 250 rider outdoors. He racked up 20 career wins in the class (tied for fourth all-time) and two titles. Hell, probably could have been more, but injuries robbed us of some great J-Mart years.
His last start came at the Indianapolis Supercross in March 2024. His most recent Pro Motocross appearance was at the 2023 Hangtown Motocross Classic, where he went 13-DNF after breaking and dislocating his wrist in a first-turn pileup. He raced just two rounds that year and missed the entire 2022 season. His last full outdoor campaign came in 2021, when he finished sixth in the championship.
One thing we do know: fitness won’t be an issue. But is the race-winning speed still there?
We’ll get our first glimpse Saturday at Fox Raceway.
