Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing’s Max Anstie announced via social media on Thursday that he will miss the majority of the AMA Pro Motocross season, which begins this Saturday at Fox Raceway.
In the post, Anstie announced that he will have to undergo surgery on a broken fibula sustained in qualifying at the Birmingham round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in March.
“We tried our best following the doctors orders and sometimes these things don’t go to plan. With that said in the time frame given the bone just didn’t progress as expected and now the best plan of action is to get it fixed in Vail. I’ll be back for the end of the summer and SMX”
Initially following the injury, Anstie announced it would not require surgery, but the injury hasn’t healed properly and he will now undergo surgery and hopes to return later in the Pro Motocross season for the SMX Playoffs.
