While the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship title battles are coming to a crescendo, Randy Richardson (WE DID NOT PAY HIM FOR THIS) stumbled upon another rivalry heating up in the sport: Steve Matthes (aka PulpMX) vs Jamie Guida (aka Darkside).
You see, we launched a new app (download it for FREE on Apple and Google) called the Vurbmoto Prospect app. It is a hub built to centralize everything you need in one seamless platform. Whether you’re looking for live race timing, past results, upcoming events, ranking, analytics, tracks to shred, or a way to connect with other riders, Prospect connects all this and more under a single platform.
Well, on Monday, Randy brought up to Steve that Dark is ranked way, way higher than him. So, we decided to put the Tell of the Tape together for Power Rankings this week.
Thanks, Randy!

Overall Rank
Before we get into this, Steve was very adamant that we mention he has beat Dark 11 times in a row in head-to-head races.
WITH THAT SAID, Dark races more, has good results in those races and is ranked way, way, way higher than Steve. (Note: Dark has yet to race in 2025, so we can only go off all-time rank.)
Point: Dark
Podium History
Racing Metrics
Scoring History
As mentioned above, Steve is on the rise with a 5th (despite a DNS) and an 8th in his last two races.
Point: Steve
Conclusion: While Steve may have the head-to-head advantage over Dark, he’s losing the war, so far. Dark has raced more, has more podiums and in terms of All-Time National Rankings is way, way ahead of Steve. But the 2025 rank matters, too… and at least Steve is victorious in that battle.
