622 races. 206 wins. Six Loretta Lynn’s championships. Those are numbers Jaydin Smart has already racked up in his amateur career and he hasn’t even made it out of the 85cc class yet. At some point, when you look at those numbers they start getting a little ridiculous.
Smart has been one of the most recognizable names in amateur motocross for years, but a look through his Vurbmoto Prospect profile puts into perspective just how much the Berry Creek, California, native has already accomplished.
According to results currently tracked in Prospect, Smart has lined up for 622 races, finishing inside the top 10 an incredible 569 times. He has 326 podium finishes and 206 overall victories, meaning he has won roughly one out of every three races currently logged on his profile.
And those aren’t just wins piled up at the local level. Smart’s currently has 44 wins at AMA Major Events, 30 at AMA Featured Events, nine at AMA Regional Qualifiers and 19 at AMA Area Qualifiers. Then there are the six wins at the biggest amateur motocross race of them all: the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
That résumé has helped push Smart to fourth all-time in the Prospect National Rankings. And he’s still adding to it.
Six at the Ranch
Smart, who currently trains at Martin Castelo’s World Moto facility in Cairo, Georgia, entered Loretta Lynn’s already owning five championships, and it didn’t take long for him to make his intentions clear.
He won the opening two motos of 85cc (10-12) and Moto 1 of 85cc (10-12) Limited, putting himself in position to potentially leave Tennessee with two more titles. The Limited class didn’t go according to plan. A crash-filled second moto resulted in an 18th-place finish and ultimately took Smart out of championship control. He rebounded with a second in the finale to salvage third overall.
In 85cc (10-12), however, there was no such drama. Smart went 1-1-1, completing the moto sweep and adding Loretta Lynn’s championship No. 6 to his résumé, which he’s achieved across multiple seasons: 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026.
Consistency Is Key
Wins and championships are the easy numbers to notice. Dig deeper into Smart’s Prospect profile and the consistency might be even more impressive. Across those 622 recorded races, Smart has an average overall finish of 4.02 and an average moto finish of 3.16.
These aren’t final career numbers we’re looking back on years later. Smart is still racing Mini Sr. and 85cc classes and as recently as last weekend, he was adding more wins to his tally, taking victories in Mini Sr. 2 (13-15) and 85cc (9-13) at second round of the Florida Gold Cup.
Coming up? A trip to France for the YZ BLU CRU Cup at the Motocross of Nations at Ernee, where–you guessed it–he is the defending champion in the 85cc class following his win at Ironman a year ago.
There is obviously a long road between amateur success and making it at the professional level. Plenty can change along the way. But you don’t need to project what Jaydin Smart might eventually become to appreciate what he’s already done.
