Slawdictions for Denver: Hunter Extends Championship

Following a nearly 55 percent pick rate over the first 15 rounds, I’m here to bring you the most flame, fire, fuego, feu, predictions for the 16th round of Monster Energy Supercross in Denver.

NONE of this would be possible without the folks at FLY Racing, who have stepped in to support Slaw and #slawnation couldn’t be happier. Visit www.flyracing.com and support those who support Slaw.

As always, we will first review my predictions from the last round in Foxborough…

Prediction | Tomac and Jett Clinch

As we outlined earlier this week, both Eli Tomac and Jett Lawrence can clinch their respective titles this weekend. Jett’s road to his first title is pretty simple: all he has to do is finish 18th or better this weekend and the title is his. Jett’s worse finish this year? Third. Yeah, I like his chances.

Tomac’s road to a second 450 title is a little more complicated. All Tomac needs to do is beat Jason Anderson and he will clinch his second 450 title. The only way for Anderson to stay alive and take the title fight to Denver is by taking two or more points out of Tomac’s lead. Anderson, who won Atlanta last weekend, will make this tough for Tomac, but I’m betting Tomac gets it done this weekend.

Hey, one for two ain’t bad, right? Right?

Slawdiction: 5 out of 10.

Prediction | Sexton Gets It Done

Man, I really feel like Chase Sexton could have like five wins this year. Instead, he has just one (San Diego). Speed is certainly not a problem for ole Sex Dog, but little mistakes are killing him. Not this weekend, doggies. He gets win number two on the year.

Sexton along with the rest of the field got Fried, but he was still good, so I’ll take at least some credit.

Slawdiction: 3 out of 10.

Prediction | We Hear 500 Complaints on Moto Twitter About It Being a Day Race

Look, I get it: Day races aren’t for everyone. But guess what helps the sport grow? Having afternoon coverage on N B “Fing” C. Back-to-back rounds on broadcast TV is a big deal and if that means we start early I’m fine with it. Don’t @ me.

Pretty sure it was over 1000.

Slawdiction: 10 out of 10.

Prediction | Jett Does NOT Eat a Donut on the Podium

Imagine if we could bet on Supercross? There would 100 percent be a prop bet on Jett eating a donut on the podium after clinching his title…. AND I WOULD BET AGAINST IT! Ain’t happening.

If we could bet on Supercross, I would be sipping some Twisted Tea’s on a yacht right now. Instead, I’m writing this column from under the Vurb tent at the Vurb Shred Tour.

Slawdiction: 10 out of 10.

Prediction | Hymas Dominates Futures Again

Member last week? Member him winning by over 45 seconds? Yeah…. he wins again this weekend.

Yeah, I mean… This one was pretty easy.

Slawdiction: 10 out of 10.

On to Denver, the Crown Jewel of the Championship.

Eli Clinches, Craig Does Not

As we outlined this week, both Eli Tomac and Christian Craig can clinch the 450 and 250SX West Region titles this weekend. Go read for more in-depth, but in simple terms: Eli just needs to finish 14th or better and if Craig wins, he clinches no matter what. Eli is a lock in my book! Hunter is hot right now so I think he pushes this thing to Vegas…er… Salt Lake City.

Anderson Wins Again

I really thought Anderson would pack it in after falling out of the championship hunt. And boy, was I wrong. Dude is on Fried right now and he continues his winning streak this weekend in Mile High Stadium.

Hunter Wins

Like I said, I like Hunter to push the title one more week, which means he really needs to win. He won in Atlanta against EVERYONE, so why not this weekend? Exactly.

Malcolm Back on the Podium

It’s been Detroit since Mook Dog has gotten on the podium. LEAD SLAW LOCK OF THE WEEK: HE’S BACK THIS WEEKEND!

Sorry for the short column, but we are getting ready to Shred in Casey, IL for the third stop of the Shred Tour and well, I’m busy. Sue, Wes.
