Racer X dropped some massive news on Sunday regarding Team USA for the upcoming Motocross of Nations.
According to a report from Racer X, Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha’s Eli Tomac has withdrawn his name for consideration for the team this year. Per the report, after the final round of the Pro Motocross Championship at Ironamna “informed the AMA afterwards that he felt that Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger, who was second overall to his teammate Chase Sexton, had earned the position on Team USA over the summer.”
Tomac, who just returned from a thumb injury, wanted a chance to prove himself over the last few rounds to earn a spot, but apparently, he has decided he will not compete this year.
The obvious choices now for the 450 Class are Red Bull KTM teammates Chase Sexton, who won the Pro Motocross Championship at Ironman, and Aaron Plessinger. Recently crowned 250 Pro Motocross Champion Haiden Deegan would be the choice for MX2 (250 Class) but we’ve yet to hear if he has decided to race or not.
If Deegan does not go, Chance Hymas could be the second option.
The AMA is expected to announce its team this week.

I find it campletely disrespectful that Tomac was being considered over AP. It goes to show you the politics involved. Roger Decoster (which I have no clue why a foregner is running the American team), the AMA. Pitiful people. Sad really. We don’t have a news media that doesn’t cuck for shitty leadership.
Also if you turn down amn invite to MXON you should sit out the next year.
I totally agree with you Rusty. I am italian and for us is an honor to be part of the MXON team. Being a big fan of motocross, the news of Tomac out of the team really put me sad cause I was really exprcting him back in Europe! And also I hope that Hayden Deegan comes
I think Roger DeCoster has probably been a US citizen longer than you been alive and pretty sure you’d be the only person challenging his guidance and Tomac is smart enough to no he needs a little more time to be back up to speed.AP definitely deserves and he has been putting in the work…it shows.Go Team USA!!!
