Quick Hits: Live Updates from Loretta Lynn’s | Saturday

We’re back at the Ranch for the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. While most of the motos are live on RacerTV all week, we know you have jobs and such and can’t watch them all, so we’ll be spotlighting some classes each day throughout the week—Slaw included.

NOTE: This post will continue to update throughout the day, so make sure to keep refreshing.

Bowsher Wins Wild 65cc Championship

Elliott “Not Bowser” Bowsher and Maddox Temmerman entered the final 65cc (7-9) moto locked in a pretty tight championship battle. Bowsher held the advantage with 2-1 motos to Temmerman’s 3-2.

Bowsher got off to a great start and held the early lead in the moto, but Temmerman was on the move early, coming from sixth off the start into second early. He then began to apply to the pressure to Bowsher and took over the lead on lap 3. Then things got wild.

Temmerman stalled on lap 4, which allowed Bowsher back into the lead and it also allowed Gauge Brown to close in. Later in the lap, Temmerman went down and Brown, with nowhere to go ran into him, and Temmerman was stuck underneath Brown’s bike. Temmerman’s helmet actually came off at one point and he was not allowed to finish the moto. He would be credited with 38th.

Bowsher cruised to the moto win and the title. Tayce Morgan, who won the first moto but was undone with a 33rd in moto 2, finished the moto in second. Brown would rebound to finish third.

Deegan Sweeps Supermini 1

Haiden Deegan entered the final Supermini 1 (12-15) moto with perfect 1-1 motos. It wasn’t easy, but he made it a clean sweep with another win in the third and final moto.

Carter Malcolm got the holeshot in this moto, while Deegan was buried around 16th off the start. He came all the way to third by the end of the first lap and then moved into second on lap 2 and set his sights on leader Noah Viney

By lap 4, Deegan had closed in and took the lead. It looked like he was going to check out, but he made an uncharacteristic mistake and fell over, which allowed Viney to retake the lead. It didn’t last long though, as a few laps later Deegan was back into the lead. From there, he would check out to his third moto win of the week.

Viney and Adler Caudle would round out the moto podium.

Baumer Holds of Reyes Jr to Capture 450 B Limited Title

450 B Limited would be a showdown between Larry Reyes Jr and Julien Baumer, who entered tied in points on 4. Reyes had 2-2 motos entering Saturday, while Baumer came in with 1-3 motos.

In the final moto, Kimble Jett was the early leader with Jayden Clough in second. Meanwhile, the championship was heating up as Baumer and Reyes Jr were 7th and 8th coming out of the first turn.

Beaumer made the early push to the front, as by the second lap he had moved into second behind the new leader Clough. As Beaumer made his push, Reyes Jr was stuck in around fifth.

As Clough continued to lead, Reyes Jr moved into third but Beaumer had pulled away and started to close on the lead. Then disaster struck. On Lap 6, Beaumer dumped it in the corner which allowed Reyes Jr to close right to the rear fender of Beaumer and make it a winner-take-all for the championship down the stretch.

Despite the crash and under heavy pressure from Reyes Jr down the stretch, Beaumer was able to hang on for second and capture the championship.

Clough would win his second moto of the week, but his championship was undone with a DNF in the first moto of the week.

Adams Makes It a Clean Sweep in 85cc

Drew Adams entered the final 85cc (10-12) moto in firm control of the championship as he sweep the opening two motos, but his third and final moto was anything but a cake walk.

Seth Dennis was the early leader in the third moto, while Adams started outside the top 20 and had his work cut out for him. Meanwhile, Adams’ main title rival, Deacon Denno was running inside the top three.

Adams went to work on the opening laps and by the end of lap 2, he was already into third. Denno had taken the lead from Barth Brody as Adams began to close on the leaders. By lap 3 Adams had moved into second and had his sights set on Denno for the lead. On the next lap, he made the pass stick and completed an amazing come-from-behind ride.

He’d go on to win his third moto of the week by 13 seconds over Caden Dudney, who made a couple last lap passes to capture second. Denno crashed late in the race and fell back to sixth. He would remount and go on to finish the moto fourth.

Ferry Captures Second Title on the Week

Evan Ferry came into the final Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C moto in firm control of the championship with 1-2 scores, but the final moto would belong to Mark Fineis

Crockett Myers snagged the holeshot in the final moto and was followed by Fineis with Ferry in third. As Fineis made the move to the front, Ferry got held up as Myers made a mistake in a corner and dropped back to fourth.

By the third lap, Ferry had moved into second and settled in behind the leader, Fineis, who had opened a gap.

Fineis would go on to his second moto win of the week but his championship hopes were dashed by a 19th in moto 1.

Ferry would finish second and capture his second title of the week after winning 125cc (12-17) B/C on Friday. Collin Allen would round out the moto podium.

Kitchen Wins Open Pro Sport Duel

Three riders entered, but only one could leave as the champion. The third and final Open Pro Sport moto would serve as a winner-take-all between Levi Kitchen (3-1), Chance Hymas (2-2) and Preston Kilroy (1-3) as they entered tied in points.

Luke Kalaitzian snagged the holeshot but it was Hymas quickly into the lead. As Kilroy made his way to second, Kitchen was stuck around fifth. On the second lap, Hymas went down right after the 10 Commandments and got up behind Kitchen. This gave the lead and the title to Kilroy.

Kitchen made his way into second on lap 3, but was facing around a four second deficit to Kilroy. He began to chip away and was right on the rear fender of Kilroy, as they pulled away from Hymas.

Then on lap 5, Kilroy lost the front right before the finish. It took him a long time to kickstart his Suzuki, and he went all the way back to 14th.

From there, Kitchen checked out to the moto win and his second title on the week. Hymas took second in the moto ahead of Jace Kessler. Kilroy would finish 10th.

Clean Sweep for Romano in 250 B

It wasn’t as easy as his nine second win would indicate, but Nick Romano made it a clean sweep of 250 B on Saturday.

Romano got the holeshot in the final moto, but was challenged early by Gavin Towers, who actually took the lead on the opening lap. Meanwhile, title contender Gage Linville was stuck outside the top 10 as he started around 14th.

Towers would hold the lead for the opening laps, but by lap 5, Romano had closed back in. On lap 7, right after the finish, Romano would make a pass for the lead stick. He’d go on to win the moto by nine seconds.

Towers would hang on for second over Preston Boespflug and Linville.

Mike Brown, My Goodness

Mike Brown will probably be 105 and still winning moto at Loretta’s. There isn’t much to report from the final Senior 45+ moto, as Brown absolutely destroyed the field.

Brown got the holeshot and it was basically over from there! He had an 8 (!!!) second lead after lap 1 and went on to win the moto by 56 seconds!!!!!!!! He could of stopped, drank a pack of Claws and still won. He sweep the class with 1-1-1 finishes.

Fro Daddy Jeff Emig had a hell of a moto. He came from 30th off the start all the way back to SECOND!

Ryan Hughes riding a 1986 CR250, went down early in the moto. But you know Ryno don’t give up. He charged life and came back to round out the podium, passing Edward Walston late in the race.

Braswell Wins Dramatic Schoolboy Title

WOW! What an insane finish to the Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C moto.

Nick Romano entered the final moto with 1-1 scores and held a firm grip on the championship as Caden Braswell had 5-2 motos and sat in second. Braswell took the early lead in the moto while Romano was buried off the start. Then things got really interesting.

Romano went down on the opening lap and came across the first lap in 23rd. With Braswell leading, Romano had to come all the way back to fifth to capture a second title on the day. By the end of lap 4, Romano had made it all the way up to 11th and was on a huge charge through the field.

Three laps later, HE HAD MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO FIFTH and the title was his. Then disaster struck on the final lap. We’re not sure if Romano crashed or had a bike problem, but on the final lap he went from fifth to 10th, which allowed Braswell to claim the title in dramatic fashion.

Gavin Towers would finish the moto in second, with Benjamin Garib rounding out the podium.

Wey To Go

Vincent Wey and Wyatt Thurman entered the final 65cc (10-11) moto in a dead heat for the title, as they were tied with 4 points.

Wey didn’t want to leave anything to chance, as he grabbed the holeshot in the final moto. Meanwhile, Thurman was back in sixth. Wey opened up a gap on Jonathan Getz Jr on the opening lap, as Thurman had moved up to fourth behind Darren Pine

Getz wasn’t going to let Wey walked away with the win though, as he closed to within a second on lap 4. Wey responded though and went on to cruise to the moto win by 27 seconds, giving him the title.

Getz would finish a strong second. Carson Wood would make the pass on Thurman late to grab third.

Janik Wins Supermini 2 Title, the Final Race of 2021

With Haiden Deegan crashing out of the first Supermini 2 moto, the title was up for grabs. And Krystian Janik took full advantage.

Janik entered the final moto with a three position lead in the championship with 4-2 moto scores to second places Adler Caudle’s 1-8.

It was Reven Gordon with the holeshot in the final moto, while Deegan (6th) and Jankik (7th) were both outside the top five. Noah Viney quickly took over the lead and was followed by Deegan.

Deegan was stuck to the rear fender of Viney for the opening six laps. But everything he tried, Viney was able to counter. Then, on lap 7, Deegan tucked the front and went down, which allowed Viney to cruise to the moto win. Deegan would remount in second but had more trouble later in the moto and finished fourth.

While the moto belonged to Viney, the title went to Janik, who came all the way back to finish the moto second.
