News and Notes: Glendale

Yeah, round 6 of the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship took place Saturday at Ford Field in Glendale. You know the results (or maybe you don’t, so we posted them below) but we are here to update you on the latest news.

Note: This post will continue to update, so make sure to check back.

Glendale always has an interesting track layout because the floor space is bigger than Slaw Dog’s ego. The track was peaky and the sections were long. I checked in with Gizmo Mods/Rock River Yamaha’s Grant Harlan during the heat races to get his take on why we weren’t seeing many passes happening. Har Dog said that the mixture of the hard pack track and how busy it is contributes to not much passing. He said when you’re racing you’re more focused on hitting the lines instead of actually racing.

We’re still waiting to see the diagnosis on Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Nate Thrasher after his huge crash in Heat 2. As you may have seen, the crash caused a red flag complete restart and Thrasher was carted off.

Jordon Smith took the lead in the 250SX Main Event from Levi Kitchen and crashed soon after on his own by sliding out after the sand by the mechanic’s area. He remounted and put on a charge, eventually coming together with Levi Kitchen. Kitchen thought he had seen the no jumping lights, but Smith didn’t and jumped.

Here’s that long awaited Jett Lawrence vs. Eli Tomac battle…

Ken Roczen took home his first win of the season and second win for Dustin Pipes and the HEP Suzuki Squad.
