News and Notes: Daytona

Yeah, Daytona! The crown jewel of the series. Seven 450SX riders entered the race in championship contention, while the 250SX East is still looking for someone to take the reigns.

Oh, and we had 250SX Futures!

The 250SX Futures main event saw a clean start and Drew Adams and Gavin Towers went to the front as expected. Towers would pressure Adams until he made a big mistake on the triple. Towers was luckily able to get up and finish the race.

Adams kept stalling his bike during the race allowing Cole Davies to get close at the end.

Adams would say on the podium that arm pump may have been a factor in his stalling of the bike issue, but he didn’t really know He took home his first 250SX Futures Main Event victory.

The conditions were rough for all the races. Cameron McAdoo and Haiden Deegan both had great saves while Tom Vialle took home his first ever victory. Three winners in three rounds!

Jett Lawrence put together a statement win at the beach. He passed through the pack and grew his lead to ten seconds. Here’s a clip of him passing from third to first.

Title contender Aaron Plessinger had a scary crash during the main. He would remount, stop for some fresh goggles, and finish the race. He lost a lot of ground in the standings.

How do we feel about the goggle stealers?

The SMX Playoff rounds were announced last night with the finals back in Las Vegas baby!
