MotoSport Commemorates 25 Years

MotoSport.com reaches their 25-year milestone in 2024 serving the powersports industry as a leading online retailer of parts and riding gear for dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs.

MotoSport developed roots in Yakima, WA as the brick-and-mortar MotoSport Outlet in 1999 after founder Bill Butcher tried getting motorcycle parts at a local dealer and had to wait three weeks. Soon after, Butcher moved MotoSport to Eugene, OR and quickly doubled his leased space from 12,000 square feet to 27,000 square feet in 2003. Early customers may remember the annual 100-page catalog as Butcher preferred the traditional route of sales over the internet, still in its infancy, despite online orders comprising 30 percent of the business at the time.

Today, MotoSport sells 100% online but in recent years resurrected that catalog – not nearly as extensive – to the delight of old-school consumers and original customers. The company ships parts and gear within days thanks to two strategically-placed warehouses, operates an extensive OEM catalog and MotoSport unveiled RDRCO last year, an exclusive line of employee designed and tested riding gear now set to expand in options for 2024. Indeed, after 25 years MotoSport has cemented itself as the nation’s leading powersports parts, gear and supplies company.

“The growth we have seen in recent years is remarkable,” said John St. Juliana, General Manager of MotoSport.. “This is a testament to not only the loyalty of our customers but also our employees. With current employee tenures relatively short today, over half of our corporate employees have been with MotoSport more than a decade.”

A core concept Butcher implemented that remains in effect today revolves around staffing the call center with Gearheads who use the same products sold by MotoSport when wrenching or riding. Therefore, the advice customers get when talking to a US-based customer service center comes from employees who know.

“I began in the Eugene warehouse 22 years ago and we all have seen a lot of change in this industry but one thing that hasn’t is MotoSport’s commitment to offering the best parts and gear, at the best prices, along with the best customer service,” said Greg Burnett, Director of Merchandise and MotoSport’s longest tenured employee. “Making your next ride your best ride isn’t a slogan it truly is how we operate the business.”

It’s not all parts and gear though. MotoSport strives to help build the sport and hobby of riding and racing having, during the last 25 years, sponsored various racing teams in Motocross, Supercross and sport bike racing. Currently, MotoSport reigns as title sponsor of the Washougal National and as “Official Online Retailor” of the Outdoors in addition to various pro and amateur athlete sponsorships.

“Of course, we sell parts and gear, that’s our business. However, we’d be remiss in not giving back, supporting and helping grow a sport, recreation, and lifestyle that enriches so many lives,” St. Juliana said. “This is our primary objective in our ‘We Support the Rider’ initiative which started long before I got here and will exist for as long as MotoSport sells parts and gear.”

To celebrate 25 years, MotoSport plans a giveaway this summer. Stay tuned, details to be announced later.
