Morning Espresso: Wilson to Bakers Factory, Reed’s Status For 2021, AJ Update and More

Welcome to Morning Espresso where we recap some news from around the world.

Wilson to Bakers Factory

Although he’s been with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna outfit since 2017, Dean Wilson has never trained with Aldon Baker. That will change this year, as Wilson announced on social media he will be at Bakers Factory for 2021.

Wilson, who underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee in September, said he will begin riding today and training with Baker. Wilson said it isn’t a “full” program and he will continue to work with Seth Rarick and Mike Brown.

Reed Done?

Chad Reed has been relatively quiet regarding his status for the 2021 season. This past season was supposed to mark the end of a legendary career for the two-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion, but due to no fans at the final rounds, Reed hinted that he may return for a final goodbye this upcoming season.

At this time, that is looking less and less likely, as Reed told MotoOnline.com that he wants to focus on being a “BMX dad” and doesn’t have interest in racing at this time.

“I think I’m done,” Reed told MotoOnline.com. “Very little in me wants to race next year. I haven’t honestly given it any thought, just been wide-open being a BMX dad. I just don’t have any desire to race with all the restrictions the world has going on right now—it sucks the fun out of it for me.”

I still wouldn’t count Reed out to racing a few rounds in 2021, despite being 38. If this is the end, what a legendary career it was.

Jasikonis Update

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Arminas Jasikonis is continuing to recover from a traumatic brain injury suffered at the MXGP of Lombardia that placed him in a medically induced coma for a short time.

Fortunately, AJ woke from his medically induced coma on Wednesday, September 30 and was quickly able to recognize and talk with his family and the exceptional medical staff around him, both in Lithuanian and English.

Last week, he released the following update on Instagram:

“For people asking how is AJ.

I”’m doing great enjoying my life for the 2nd time and not wasting it! I’m more than thankful first of all, Italian medical crew for doing good job, my team for doing everything they can and for supporting me day n night, off course every single person for supporting me, stickers on bikes and all support things and all messages I have seen most of them and I super appreciate it and super thankful!

“I’m going thru all rehabs and all, I’m feeling well and better everyday but off course many things need go better and I’m doing my 100% cause I’m super motivated to go back to my normal trainings and off course back to racing ????”
