Morning Espresso: McElrath Tests with MotoConcepts, 2021 SX Schedule Coming, Hodges Races GNCC, Pit Bike Drama and More

Welcome to Morning Espresso where we recap some news from around the world.

What Does MotoConcepts Do For 2021?

As we wrote about last week, MotoConcepts had a test with Joey Savatgy in California and now it appears Shane McElrath has also completed a test with the team.

Rumors suggest that Malcolm Stewart won’t return to the team for 2021. Vince Friese is expected back but no word on Justin Hill’s status. Could MotoConcepts bring on two new riders for next year? We’ll have to wait and see.

New SX Schedule Coming

Feld Entertainment, promotors of Monster Energy Supercross, announced last week that the 2021 schedule will be released tomorrow.

Obviously the 2021 schedule will look a little different. I highly doubt the season will begin in Anaheim—or even visit California for that matter—but I do expect a full 17 round season with some fan capacity. There is no way Feld could do another season without fans. It just doesn’t make sense financially.

Some hot rumors are that we could have three races in different cities. So, for example, a race on Saturday, a race on Tuesday, and another race on Saturday. Again, THOSE ARE RUMORS. We won’t know for sure until tomorrow.

Hodges Races GNCC

Freerider Axell Hodges made the trip to the Ironman GNCC over the weekend and took second behind Heath Harrison in the industry class. Say what you want about it being the industry class, but the Ironman GNCC is fing gnarly and just finishing is an accomplishment, especially in your first one.

Pit Bike Drama

Who knew pit bikes could cause so much drama?

Swoll to the Factory

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jalek Swoll is moving over to the Bakers Factory for next year. Swoll, who has worked with the GREAT Tim Ferry since he was 14, made the announcement on Instagram.

“I was 14 when I first came to @therealreddog and @mrsreddog I was going through a really rough time in my life and these ginger people took me in as family and taught me what it takes to make it in this sport and ultimately molded me into a better person, without these people I would not be where I’m at now, we’ve won countless championships through amateurs and found success in our rookie sx season and I’m grateful to call these people my family …… thank you for putting up with all my shit over the years I’ll never forget how much fun it was even when getting red dogged for being an idiot ????????❤️. with that being said I’ll be making the move to @bakersfactory this off season can’t wait to come out swinging sophomore season ???????? LFG ????”
